  1. 1. Novel Technologies for Mode-Locking of Solid-State Lasers

    Författare :Niels Meiser; Valdas Pasiskevicius; Steinmeyer Günter; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; laser; mode-locked laser; pulsed laser; quantum dot; carbon nanotube; nonlinear optics; saturable absorber; Kerr-lens mode-locking; ultra-fast laser; picosecond laser; pulsed laser; semiconductor saturable absorber;

    Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the investigation of novel technologies for mode-locking of diode-pumped, solid-state lasers. Novel saturable absorbers are used: quantum dots (QDs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which both are low-dimensional nano-formations. In addition, mode-locking by cascaded nonlinearities is explored. 2. 2. Development of laser spectroscopy for scattering media applications

    Författare :Mats Andersson; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laserteknik; Laser technology; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Atomic and molecular physics; Fysik; Physics; coherent sampling; optical sensor; light absorption; noninvasive measurement; diode laser; scattering of light; laser spectroscopy; fluorescence spectroscopy; remote sensing; Lidar; DIAL;

    Sammanfattning : Laser spectroscopy for both large and small spatial scales has been developed and used in various applications ranging from remote monitoring of atmospheric mercury in Spain to investigation of oxygen contents in wood, human sinuses, fruit, and pharmaceutical solids. Historically, the lidar group in Lund has performed many differential absorption lidar (DIAL) measurements with a mobile lidar system that was first described in 1987. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development and Application of Single-Ended Picosecond Laser Diagnostics

    Författare :Billy Kaldvee; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Raman Scattering; Temporal Filtering; Picosecond Laser Diagnostics; Rayleigh Scattering; Laser-spectroscopy; DIAL; Laser Combustion Diagnostics; Lidar; Laser-induced Fluorescence; Laser-induced Incandescence; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Kaldvee;

    Sammanfattning : Light detection and ranging (lidar), a method for nonintrusive, single-ended, and range resolved measurements, has been developed and applied for combustion related diagnostics. Employing picosecond laser pulse durations and detectors providing temporal resolution on the order of picoseconds, lidar has been applied successfully for both quantitative temperature- and species concentration measurements, obtaining an ultimate range resolution of 0. 4. 4. Intense laser-plasma interactions

    Författare :Joel Magnusson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radiation reaction; radiation generation; particle-in-cell; plasma; pair production cascades; ion acceleration; laser;

    Sammanfattning : In the interaction of ultra-intense laser fields with matter, the target is rapidly ionized and a plasma is formed. The ability of a plasma to sustain acceleration gradients, orders of magnitude larger than achievable with conventional accelerators, has led to a great interest in laser-driven plasma-based particle and radiation sources, with applications in materials science, biology and medicine. 5. 5. Blue Laser Source for Laser-Induced Fluorescence

    Författare :Jesper Holm; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Second Harmonic Generation; Lasers; PPKTP; ALA; Tapered laser diodes; External cavity lasers; Laser-induced fluorescence; photodynamic therapy; mTHPC;

    Sammanfattning : Laser-induced fluorescence is a clinical diagnostic tool, used for tumor demarcation and detection. The technique relies on the injection or topical application of a light sensitive drug called a photosensitizer. This substance has the ability to be accumulated to higher concentrations in cancer cells than in normal cells. LÄS MER
