  1. 6. Searching for sustainable aquaculture governance : A focus on ambitions and experience

    Författare :Ola Luthman; Rickard Lalander; Fred Saunders; Max Troell; Megan Bailey; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aquaculture; policy; environmental governance; Social-Ecological Systems; Environmental Studies; Miljövetenskapliga studier; Östersjö- och Östeuropaforskning; Baltic and East European studies;

    Sammanfattning : Aquaculture is one of the most diverse food-producing industries and is suggested as a key solution to a growing global food demand. It has been argued that aquaculture has the potential to expand sustainably in most parts of the world, especially in the EU where consumption far out weighs production. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Detection and classification of sea ice from spaceborne multi-frequency synthetic aperture radar imagery and radar altimetry

    Författare :Wiebke Aldenhoff; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Beaufort Sea; sea ice classification; sea ice; sea ice concentration; Fram Strait; SAR imaging; radar altimetry;

    Sammanfattning : The sea ice cover in the Arctic is undergoing drastic changes. Since the start of satellite observations by microwave remote sensing in the late 1970's, the maximum summer sea ice extent has been decreasing and thereby causing a generally thinner and younger sea ice cover. 3. 8. Light conditions in seasonally ice-covered waters : within the Baltic Sea region

    Författare :Elina Kari; Susanne Kratzer; Matti Leppäranta; Monika Winder; Tiit Kutser; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Seasonal sea ice; Fast ice; Drift ice; Phytoplankton spring bloom; Under-ice plume; Turbidity; Suspended particulate matter; Chlorophyll; Coloured dissolved organic matter; Baltic Sea; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Seasonal ice cover is a major driver of seasonality in aquatic ecosystems in the Baltic Sea region. Ice cover influences the underwater light conditions directly by limiting the light transfer and indirectly by modifying the mixing and circulation under the ice. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Ridged sea ice modelling in climate applications

    Författare :Sebastian Mårtensson; Markus Meier; Kristofer Döös; Peter A. Lundberg; Frank Kauker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic ocean; Baltic Sea; sea ice; ice dynamics; numerical modelling; climate; ice deformation; ice compression; physical and biogeochemical interactions; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : This work aims to increase our understanding of the nature of large scale features of sea ice from a dynamics point of view.Sea ice plays an important part in the exchange of heat and humidity between sea and air and thus is an important component of the climate system. 5. 10. Mechanisms controlling air-sea gas exchange in the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Lucía Gutiérrez-Loza; Anna Rutgersson; Erik Sahlée; Marcus Wallin; John Prytherch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Air-sea gas exchange; Baltic Sea; CO2 flux; methane flux;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon plays a major role in physical and biogeochemical processes in the atmosphere, the biosphere, and the ocean. CO2 and CH4 are two of the most common carbon-containing compounds in the atmosphere, also recognized as major greenhouse gases. LÄS MER
