  1. 21. Decoding the language of transmission among vector-pathogen-host

    Författare :Melika Hajkazemian; S. Noushin Emami; Richard Hopkins; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Vector-borne disease; Malaria; Anopheles; Plasmodium falciparum; Zika; Aedes; Vector control strategy; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Vector-borne diseases account for over 17 percent of all infectious diseases and lead to more than 700,000 mortalities annually. Importantly, there is a complex interaction between infectious organisms and their host. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Pheromones, genes & transcriptomes. A molecular analysis of moth sex pheromone production

    Författare :Maria Strandh; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Female moths emit sex pheromones to lure a mate. In this thesis I examined the transcriptomes of female moth pheromone glands in order to identify genes encoding proteins involved in pheromone production. Two cDNA-libraries were constructed from Agrotis segetum (Noctuidae) pheromone glands and the remaining body tissue, respectively. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Identification of host volatiles and their role in the behavioural modulation of host-seeking Culicoides biting midges

    Författare :Elin Isberg; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Culicoides biting midges are important vectors of Bluetongue and Schmallenberg viruses in Europe. The introduction of these viruses highlighted the need to develop novel surveillance and control tools to monitor and manage biting midges. LÄS MER
