6. Microfluidic biosensing systems based on enzymes, antibodies and cells
Sammanfattning : The rapid developments within the life science and biotechnology areas put up ever-new demands on more sophisticated techniques and methods for chemical and biological analysis to reach deeper insight into the events at molecular level. Miniaturisation of assays and systems on microchips is one way to increase throughput and advance through parallel analysis lines, multiplexing and integration. LÄS MER
7. Sensitivity and selectivity studies in capillary electrophoresis
Sammanfattning : Capillary electrophoresis is characterised by high separation efficiency, applicability to a wide range of compounds, small sample and solvent consumption and simple instrumentation. To improve sensitivity using on-line absorbance detectors, which are hampered by the short optical path length, sample volumes in the microlitre range were concentrated to nanolitre volumes either off-line or on-line. 8. Fundamental research on supercritical fluid extraction kinetics : From on-line measurements to inverse modeling
Sammanfattning : Supercritical fluid extraction is an extraction technique suitable for lipophilic compounds from solid samples. Most commonly supercritical carbon dioxide is the main component in the extraction phase, rendering the technique relatively environmentally benign. LÄS MER
9. Inhibitors of Human and Malaria Parasite Dihydroorotate Dehydrogenase
Sammanfattning : In the first part of the PhD work, small chemical entities (fragments) found to inhibit human dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH), were chemically optimized. As part of an ample program at Active Biotech to find new drugs against autoimmune diseases, expanded fragments were repeatedly designed, synthesized and evaluated in a human DHODH assay. LÄS MER
10. The accessibility and chemical activity of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soil
Sammanfattning : This thesis proposes the use of two concepts: accessibility and chemical activity. Accessibility describes the mass quantity of PAHs that is or can become available within a given time span and under given conditions. LÄS MER
