  1. 21. Investigation of the functionality related characteristics of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose for the release from matrix tablets

    Författare :Anna Viridén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; functionality related characteristics; batch-to-batch variation; hydrophilic matrix tablets; hydroxypropyl methylcellulose; polymer characterisation; heterogeneous; drug release;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrophilic matrix tablets are a compressed well mixed composite of drug substance and excipients including a hydrophilic polymer. When the tablet comes in contact with biological fluids, the hydrophilic polymer starts to dissolve, a process that decreases the water penetration through the tablet and involves dimensional changes of the tablet due to swelling of the solvated polymers. 2. 22. Molecular dynamics and aggregation behaviour in aqueous polymer-drug model systems

    Författare :Hans Evertsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Physical and Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; fysikalisk och oorganisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmaceutical formulations often contain polymers used as binders, swelling agents, etc., to give the formulation mechanical stability or specific drug release features. Many drug substances, as well as polymers, are amphiphilic which will give an associative polymer-drug interaction, affecting the dissolution rate and drug release. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Charged colloids observed by electrophoretic and diffusion NMR

    Författare :Erik Thyboll Pettersson; Peter Stilbs; Terence Cosgrove; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; ENMR; electrophoretic NMR; dissusion NMR; electrophoretic mobility; double stimulated echo; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis deals partly with methodology including construction of hardware and new pulse sequences in the field of electrophoretic NMR, and partly with practical use of ENMR and diffusion NMR in the investigation of charged colloidal systems. Several sources of artefacts are investigated, including gas production at the electrodes, electroosmosis and Joule heating effects that can cause convection. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Multi-functional Hyaluronan Based Biomaterials for Biomedical Applications

    Författare :Xia Yang; Dmitri Ossipov; Matthias Lutolf; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hyaluronan; biomaterials functionalizations; biomedical applications; orthogonal chemistry; drug delivery; tissue regeneration; MRI; Kemi med inriktning mot polymerkemi; Chemistry with specialization in Polymer Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents strategies for constructing multi-functional biomaterials based on hyaluronan (HA) derivatives for various biomedical applications, such as drug delivery, tissue regeneration, and imaging biomaterials. The aim of this study is to improve the functionalities of HA biomaterials as well as simplify the preparation procedures. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Nanolatexes: a versatile toolbox for cellulose modification

    Författare :Alexandros Efraim Alexakis; Eva Malmström; Justin Zoppe; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanolatexes; RAFT; PISA; adsorption; cellulose; modification; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Cellulosic materials are widely used in our everyday lives, ranging from paperand packaging to biomedical applications. However, in most applications, cellulose must coexist with hydrophobic polymers which can be challenging due to its hydrophilic character. This has encouraged the exploration of chemical and physical modifications of cellulose. LÄS MER
