  1. 11. Electrical Charges on Polymeric Insulator Surfaces and their Impact on Flashover Performance

    Författare :Sarath Kumara; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; streamer criterion; polymeric insulation; flashover voltage; surface potential; bulk conductivity; surface conduction; humidity; bulk neutralization; charge decay; Surface charge; silicone rubber; corona charging; gas neutralization;

    Sammanfattning : Utilization of remotely located sustainable energy resources such as solar, wind and hydro calls for further developments of long-distance electric power transmissions operating at ultra-high voltage (UHV) levels which may exceed 1000 kV ac and 800 kV dc utilized today. It is foreseen that insulation of such transmission systems is to be based on polymeric materials that can provide a number of technical benefits over traditionally used glass and porcelain based insulation. 2. 12. Towards Dense Air Quality Monitoring : Time-Dependent Statistical Gas Distribution Modelling and Sensor Planning

    Författare :Sahar Asadi; Achim Lilienthal; Amy Loutfi; Dominque Martinez; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mobile robot olfaction; time-dependent gas distribution modelling; temporal sub-sampling; sensor planning; artificial potential field; gas monitoring;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the problem of gas distribution modelling for gas monitoring and gas detection. The presented research is particularly focused on the methods that are suitable for uncontrolled environments. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Microclimate at range margins : Consequences for boreal forest understory species

    Författare :Caroline Greiser; Kristoffer Hylander; Johan Ehrlén; Eric Meineri; Miska Luoto; Alistair Jump; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microclimate; species distribution; range dynamics; boreal forest; canopy cover; topography; soil moisture; air humidity; bryophytes; lichens; vascular plants; biotic interactions; forest management; biodiversity conservation; ekologi och evolution; Ecology and Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : A warmer climate will shift species distributional range margins poleward, but near-ground microclimates may modify these shifts. Cold-adapted northern species at their rear edge may survive locally in microrefugia with a colder microclimate, and warm-adapted southern species at their leading edge may colonize stepping stone habitats with a warmer microclimate. 4. 14. Biological growth on rendered façades

    Författare :Sanne Johansson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; temperature; render; radiation; photosynthesis; moulds; mosses; mortar; moisture; lichens; Imaging-PAM; humidity; heat capacity; heat; ETICS; algae; biological growth; calorimetry; desiccation tolerance;

    Sammanfattning : Biological organisms have an incredible ability to adapt to almost any environment and the humans activities on earth have created many new habitats for different kinds of organisms. For example can certain organisms grow on rocks and vertical cliffs, and when humans started building houses with mineral based façades, some organisms found that these were new habitats to live on.
