  1. 1. Electrical Charges on Polymeric Insulator Surfaces and their Impact on Flashover Performance

    Författare :Sarath Kumara; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; streamer criterion; polymeric insulation; flashover voltage; surface potential; bulk conductivity; surface conduction; humidity; bulk neutralization; charge decay; Surface charge; silicone rubber; corona charging; gas neutralization;

    Sammanfattning : Utilization of remotely located sustainable energy resources such as solar, wind and hydro calls for further developments of long-distance electric power transmissions operating at ultra-high voltage (UHV) levels which may exceed 1000 kV ac and 800 kV dc utilized today. It is foreseen that insulation of such transmission systems is to be based on polymeric materials that can provide a number of technical benefits over traditionally used glass and porcelain based insulation. 2. 2. Surface Charge Dynamics on Polymeric Insulating Materials for High Voltage Applications

    Författare :Shahid Alam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HVDC insulation.; gas neutralization; decay rate; Surface charging; electrical conductivity; surface potential; charge transport; ambient pressure;

    Sammanfattning : To meet increasing demands in electric energy, it is essential to enhance production of electricity from renewable energy sources (solar, wind and hydro). Such generation sites, however, are usually separated from consumption sites by long distances. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Experimental studies to overcome the recycling barriers of stainless-steel and BOF slags

    Författare :Mattia De Colle; Pär Jönsson; Andrey Karasev; Muxing Guo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steel; slag; recycling; sustainability; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents several studies aimed at improving the recycling of steel slag. The studies are based on a first evaluation of the state-of-the-artof the recycling applications both with respect to their possibilities and limitations. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cationic Interactions with Nucleic Acids With Focus on Anticancer Active Platinum(II) Complexes

    Författare :Åse Sykfont Snygg; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; in-line cleavage; Cisplatin; oxaliplatin; circular dichroism; DENSPM; polyamines; siRNA; pseudoknot; RNA; thermal melting; anticancer active Pt II complex; DNA;

    Sammanfattning : It is well documented that the antitumour activity of the Pt(II)-complex cisplatin, and similar anticancer active complexes, is a result of metalation of DNA, and thereby inhibition of cell proliferation. Since nucleic acids are polyanions at physiological pH, the rate of adduct formation with positively charged complex, as the hydrolyzed Pt(II) complexes studied in this work, is influenced by the ionic environment surrounding the polymer. 5. 5. Thermal Properties of Clusters and Molecules - Experiments on Evaporation, Thermionic Emission, and Radiative Cooling

    Författare :Erika Sundén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water clusters fullerenes unimolecular decay evaporation thermionic emission radiative decay cooling rates heat capacities;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents experiments performed on clusters and molecules, where the three channels of unimolecular decay have been studied. Evaporation from protonated and negatively charged water cluster have yielded size dependent heat capacities, where the smallest sizes with fewer than $21$ molecules show a heat capacity similar to bulk ice whereas clusters with molecules between $21$ and $300$ have a heat capacity in between that of ice and liquid water.
