  1. 26. From Cue to Recall : The Temporal Dynamics of Long-Term Memory Retrieval

    Författare :Robin Hellerstedt; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; think no-think; memory intrusion; retrieval-induced forgetting; ERP; long-term memory; cued recall;

    Sammanfattning : A fundamental function of long-term memory is the ability to retrieve a specific memory when encountering a retrieval cue. The purpose of this dissertation was to further our understanding of such cued recall by investigating the temporal dynamics from the presentation of the retrieval cue until the target memory is recalled. 2. 27. How memory of the past, a predictable present and expectations of the future underpin adaptation to the sound environment

    Författare :Anatole Nöstl; Patrik Sörqvist; Daniel Västfjäll; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Memory; Expectations; Adaptation; Habituation; Predictions; Attentional capture; Auditory distraction; Minne; förväntningar; anpassning; habituation; prediktioner; fångad uppmärksamhet; auditiv distraktion;

    Sammanfattning : By using auditory distraction as a tool, the main focus of the present thesis is to investigate the role of memory systems in human adaptation processes towards changes in the built environment. Report I and Report II focus on the question of whether memory for regularities in the auditory environment is used to form predictions and expectations of future sound events, and if violations of these expectations capture attention. 3. 28. Words and non-words : Vocabulary and phonological working memory in Arabic-Swedish-speaking 4–7-year-olds with and without a diagnosis of Developmental Language Disorder

    Författare :Linnéa Öberg; Ute Bohnacker; Laurice Tuller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; bilingualism; Arabic; Swedish; preschool children; vocabulary; phonological working memory; CLT; NWR; language exposure; developmental language disorder; DLD; tvåspråkighet; arabiska; svenska; förskolebarn; ordförråd; fonologiskt arbetsminne; CLT; nonordsrepetition; språkexponering; språkstörning; Linguistics; Lingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the vocabulary skills and the non-word repetition (NWR) performance of 99 typically developing (TD) 4–7-year-old Arabic-Swedish-speaking children and 11 Arabic-Swedish-speaking children with a diagnosis of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). The children’s early language development, family backgrounds and language exposure patterns are explored through parental questionnaires, and for the DLD children also via interviews with parents, teachers and speech-language pathologists regarding their developmental history, language skills and communicative behaviour. 4. 29. The role of working memory capacity in auditory distraction

    Författare :Patrik Sörqvist; Jerker Rönnberg; Staffan Hygge; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Teknisk psykologi; Engineering Psychology; Environmental psychology;

    Sammanfattning : The basis of individual differences in susceptibility to auditory distraction has been a research field largely ignored. The current work presents four studies demonstrating that individual differences in working memory capacity (WMC) are related to the magnitude of auditory distraction. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Neural mechanisms underlying working memory : computational and neuroimaging studies

    Författare :Julian Macoveanu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The performance on various cognitive tasks, from language to selective attention and guidance of future actions depends on working memory (WM), the ability to hold and manipulate limited items of information for a period of up to a few seconds. During childhood development, WM capacity, the number of items one can maintain in WM, increases. LÄS MER
