  1. 6. Study of Pumping Pressure and Stop Criteria in Grouting of Rock Fractures

    Författare :Jalaleddin Yaghoobi Rafi; Håkan Stille; Mikael Rinne; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rock Mechanics; Grouting; Solid Mechanics; Hållfasthetslära;

    Sammanfattning : Today practice of grouting is based on empirical approaches in that, pumping pressure and stop criteria are determined by benchmarking similar projects. Considering a maximum limit for grouting pressure would allow applying a relatively high pressure that may lead to jacking of the fracture or even uplift of the rock mass. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Deep subduction of the Seve Nappe Complex in the Scandinavian Caledonides

    Författare :Iwona Klonowska; Jarosław Majka; Peter Lazor; Marian Janák; Bjarne Almqvist; Jane Gilotti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geothermobarometry; thermodynamic modelling; Raman spectroscopy; diamond; ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism; eclogite; peridotite; gneiss;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis seeks to improve our understanding of the processes involved in continental collision zones, with a particular focus on subduction-exhumation. The main objective of this work has been to define the tectonometamorphic evolution of the deeply subducted Seve Nappe Complex (SNC) in the Scandinavian Caledonides. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Design of grout curtains under dams founded on rock

    Författare :Suihan Zhang; Fredrik Johansson; Johan Funehag; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Grout curtains; Rock grouting; Dams; Erosion; Infilling materials in rock fractures; Injekteringsridåer; Berginjektering; Dammar; Erosion; Sprickfyllnadsmaterial; Soil and Rock Mechanics; Jord- och bergmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Grouting has long been implemented as a ground improvement technique to reduce the seepage through the rock mass. Grout curtains are usually constructed under dams as a barrier to prevent leakage from the reservoir. So far, the grout curtains under dams have mainly been designed by using an empirical design approach. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings

    Författare :Johan Vessby; Hilmer Riberholt; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-storey structures; timber engineering; wind stabilization; shear walls; cross-laminated timber wall panels; fasteners; connections; sheathing; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Wind loads acting on wooden building structures need to be dealt with adequately in order to ensure that neither the serviceability limit state nor the ultimate limit state is exceeded. For the structural designer of tall buildings, avoiding the possibly serious consequences of heavy wind loading while taking account at the same time of the effects of gravitation can be a real challenge. 5. 10. Precambrian Crustal Evolution of the Rehoboth Province, Southern Africa

    Författare :Valby van Schijndel; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rehoboth Province; Rehoboth Basement Inlier; Kaaien Terrane; Dwyka Diamictite; U–Pb; Sm–Nd; Lu–Hf; Ar–Ar Geochronology; Oxygen isotopes; Zircon; Baddeleyite;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis uses U-Pb, Sm-Nd Lu-Hf, Ar-Ar and Oxygen isotope data on well-documented rock samples, to investigate crustal evolution of the Precambrian Rehoboth Province of Southern Africa. This province is defined by its smooth magnetic character, reflecting deep magnetic basement in contrast to the adjoining mobile belts and the Kaapvaal Craton. LÄS MER
