21. Implementation of complex polarization propagator theory for linear response properties of large molecular systems
Sammanfattning : Since its beginning, the remarkable development from the first commercially available computers toward exascale supercomputers just within the span of a lifetime has been closely intertwined with the perpetual quest for the utilization of the arising computing power for the avail of theoretical chemistry. With the aim of further pushing the limits of computationally accessible molecular system sizes, this thesis includes the presentation of programming efforts, which brought forth two quantum chemical software codes, as well as a range of ab initio studies on carbon-based systems, enabled by the former. 22. Towards Improved Scale-Resolving Modeling and Simulations of Turbulent Flows
Sammanfattning : Scale-resolving simulations are viewed as powerful means for predicting complex turbulentflows, as often encountered in aeronautical applications. However, since turbulent scalesspan over a considerable range from the smallest Kolmogorov scales to the largest ofequivalence to configuration size, scale-resolving computations are often demandingon computational resources and, furthermore, on the underlying numerical methodsused in the simulations. 23. Film Formation from Dispersions - Preparation and Mechanisms
Sammanfattning : Improved environmental consciousness and harsh legislation concerning volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during the 1980s led to an increase in the development in the field of polymer colloids. Solvent born coatings were replaced by polymer dispersions in aqueous solution, so called latex dispersions. LÄS MER
24. Structure-borne sound properties of vibration isolators
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers concerning the audibledynamic stiffness of a vibration isolator; includingmeasurements and theoretical modeling. The study focus isrubber isolators, being the most popular material in theaudible frequency domain - though the measurement principlealso applies to other resilient elements. LÄS MER
25. Probing Dynamics of Oligosaccharides by Interference Phenomena in NMR Relaxation
Sammanfattning : Oligosaccharides (carbohydrates) are a large class of biological molecules that are important as energy sources in the human body and have enormously varied biological functions. It is generally believed that biological activities of carbohydrates are related to their internal dynamics. LÄS MER
