16. Exploiting chemical control in biomaterials
Sammanfattning : Chemistry and biology at the interphase will most likely give many of the answers to tomorrows medical challenges. Creating solutions to the problems at this interphase is benefiting from a collaborative research approach, driven by the need for development of chemistries or devices solving medical problems. 17. Synthesis of O-linked Carbasugar Analogues of Galactofuranosides and N-linked Neodisaccharides
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, carbohydrate mimicry is investigated through the syntheses of carbohydrate analogues and evaluation of their inhibitory effects on carbohydrate-processing enzymes. Galactofuranosides are interesting structures because they are common motifs in pathogenic microorganisms but not found in mammals. M. LÄS MER
18. Thermodynamic Toolkit for Chemical Recycling to Monomer
Sammanfattning : The design of polymeric materials for a circular economy is, to a largeextent, a challenge of thermodynamics. The work presented in this thesishas explored the thermodynamic features of ring-opening polymerizationand ring-closing depolymerization, to develop polymeric materials andrecycling strategies for chemical recycling to monomer. 19. Design of Functional Degradable Aliphatic Polyesters and Porous Tissue Engineering Scaffolds
Sammanfattning : The regeneration of damaged tissues or organs using porous scaffolds which act as temporary guides for the patient’s own cells, i.e. tissue engineering, is a means to overcome the shortcomings of current standard medical treatments. LÄS MER
20. Lipase-Catalyzed Syntheses of Telechelic Polyesters
Sammanfattning : Telechelic polyesters have successfully been synthesized with lipase-catalyzed polymerization. The produced telechelics had a high degree of difunctionalization, high purity (requiring little or no workup) and controlled degree of polymerization. The syntheses were performed in one-pot one-step reaction systems. LÄS MER
