16. Phylogenetic Relationships of Silene sect. Melandrium and Allied Taxa (Caryophyllaceae), as Deduced from Multiple Gene Trees
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on phylogenetic relationships among some of the major lineages in Silene subgenus Behenantha (Caryophyllaceae) using DNA sequences from multiple, potentially unlinked gene regions from a large taxonomic and geographic sample. Both traditional phylogenetic analyses and a strategy to infer species trees and gene trees in a joint approach are used. LÄS MER
17. Molecular Insights into Kcnq1ot1 Noncoding Antisense RNA Mediated Long Range Transcriptional Gene Silencing
Sammanfattning : Non-coding antisense RNAs have been implicated in the epigenetic silencing of individual gene as well as chromosomal domains. While silencing of the overlapping gene by antisense RNAs has been well investigated, their functional role in silencing of chromosomal domains remains enigmatic. LÄS MER
18. Characterization of RNA polymerase II subunit Rpb7 in silencing and transcription
Sammanfattning : The DNA in eukaryotes is arranged in fibres of chromatin. The chromatin may be more or less compacted and the degree of condensation of the chromatin affects the accessibility of the DNA. The accessibility of the DNA, in turn, affects transcription and gene regulation. LÄS MER
19. Formation and function of wobble uridine modifications in transfer RNA of Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Sammanfattning : Transfer RNAs (tRNAs) act as adaptor molecules in decoding messenger RNA into protein. Frequently found in tRNAs are different modified nucleosides, which are derivatives of the four normal nucleosides, adenosine (A), guanosine (G), cytidine (C), and uridine (U). LÄS MER
20. Molecular Diagnosis of Common Viral Infectious Diseases Based on Real-Time PCR
Sammanfattning : Molecular biology has become an integral part of the diagnosis of infectious diseases. Recently, quantitative real-time PCR (QPCR) methods (often in the form of so-called TaqMan® systems) have been developed for the diagnosis of a wide range of infectious diseases; these techniques found valuable clinical application in the diagnosis and evaluation of progress and therapeutic success of viral diseases.
