  1. 1. Selection, Maternal Effects and Inbreeding in Reindeer Husbandry

    Författare :Lars Rönnegård; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Nyckelord :breeding programme; communal grazing; randombred populations; Rangifer tarandus tarandus; semidomestic reindeer; gene flow; reindeer; animal breeding; gene flow; random mating; breeding methods; genetic inheritance; population structure; extensive husbandry; sweden;

    Sammanfattning : In extensive grazing systems where several owners’ flocks are allowed to mix, selection strategies will also interact, due to gene flow between flocks. The aim of the thesis was to analyse breeding schemes in terms of genetic gain and rate of inbreeding (?F), given the complexity of ownership and interaction of selection strategies within a mixing reindeer population. 2. 2. Threads and Images : The Use of Scripture in Apophthegmata Patrum

    Författare :Per Rönnegård; Kyrko- och missionsstudier; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Hermogenes; Physiologus; Barsanuphius of Gaza; Dorotheus of Gaza; ergasia; chreia; referent; contextualization; monasticism; Septuagint; Early Christianity; Late Antiquity; desert fathers; reception history; Bible; Apophthegmata Patrum; Bibelvetenskap; History of the Christian church; Kristna kyrkans historia;

    Sammanfattning : This study is devoted to the use of the Bible in the Greek systematic collection of Apophthegmata Patrum (AP). After an introductory survey of earlier research on the use of Scripture in general, and that of AP in particular, the main purpose of the investigation is formulated: to describe how the Bible text is contextualized, i.e. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Computational statistical methods for genotyping biallelic DNA markers from pooled experiments

    Författare :Camille Clouard; Carl Nettelblad; Lars Rönnegård; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The information conveyed by genetic markers such as Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) has been widely used in biomedical research for studying human diseases, but also increasingly in agriculture by plant and animal breeders for selection purposes. Specific identified markers can act as a genetic signature that is correlated to certain characteristics in a living organism, e. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genetic Heteroscedasticity for Domestic Animal Traits

    Författare :Majbritt Felleki; Erling Strandberg; Lars Rönnegård; Ole Fredslund Christensen; Högskolan Dalarna; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Quantitative genetics; genetic heteroscedasticity of residuals; genetic heterogeneity of environmental variation; genetic heterogeneity of residual variance; double hierarchical generalized linear models; teat count in pigs; litter size in pigs; milk yield in cows; somatic cell count in cows; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Animal traits differ not only in mean, but also in variation around the mean. For instance, one sire’s daughter group may be very homogeneous, while another sire’s daughters are much more heterogeneous in performance. The difference in residual variance can partially be explained by genetic differences. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Methods from Statistical Computing for Genetic Analysis of Complex Traits

    Författare :Behrang Mahjani; Sverker Holmgren; Lars Rönnegård; Carl Nettelblad; Silvia Delgado Olabarriaga; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistical Computing; QTL mapping; Global Optimization; Linear Mixed Models; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this thesis is to explore, improve and implement some advanced modern computational methods in statistics, focusing on applications in genetics. The thesis has three major directions.First, we study likelihoods for genetics analysis of experimental populations. LÄS MER
