  1. 1. Systematics of Lactobacillus spp. of probiotic potential

    Detta är en avhandling från Division of Food Technology, Lund University

    Författare :Alejandra Vasquez; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; mycology; virology; bacteriology; Microbiology; bacteria; molecular-based identification; probiotics; systematics;

    Sammanfattning : Lactobacillus is a heterogeneous bacterial genus comprising at present 91 species. The high species number often makes classification and identification difficult, especially as the taxonomy to a high degree has been based on phenotypical traits. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Effects of Probiotics and Plant Components on Murine Experimental Colitis and Acute Liver Failure

    Detta är en avhandling från Division of Food Technology, Lund University

    Författare :Nadia Osman; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2006]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mykologi; virologi; bakteriologi; Mikrobiologi; mycology; bacteriology; virology; Rose hip; Microbiology; Probiotics; Prebiotics; Liver injury; Blueberry; Gastro-enterology; Colitis; Gastroenterologi; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Acute liver failure is accompanied by a high rate of bacterial septic complications. High portal level of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) can lead to a pronounced secretion by Kupffer cells of pro-inflammatory mediators which have been shown to be early and important mediators of liver injury. 3. 3. The Gut Bacterial Flora - Focus on Early Life and Physiological Traits

    Detta är en avhandling från Division of Food Technology, Lund University

    Författare :Caroline Linninge; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2011]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gut microbiota; atopic eczema; inflammation; bacterial diversity; Escherichia coli; Lactobacillus plantarum; molecular-genetic methods;

    Sammanfattning : The gastrointestinal tract of the foetus is considered sterile but during vaginal birth the neonate comes into contact with bacteria from the maternal vaginal and intestinal microbiota. The main focus of this doctoral thesis was to elucidate the initial bacterial ecosystem in newborns and to relate microbial perturbations to physiological traits. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Barley- and Legume Products Beneficially Affect Metabolic Responses and Appetite Regulation

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Food Technology, Engineering and Nutrition, Lund University

    Författare :Elin Johansson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2014]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The role of dietary fibre (DF) in disease prevention has been extensively investigated and prospective studies observed that increased DF intake decreased the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), reduced the risk of weight gain as well as the risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Also a diet characterized by low glycaemic index (GI) has been shown to reduce the risk of T2D and CVD. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies on the Physiological Effects of Microbial Exopolysaccharides

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Food Technology, Engineering and Nutrition, Lund University

    Författare :Cecilia Lindström; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Probiotics; Prebiotics; Microbiota; Glycemic regulation; Dietary fiber; Oats; Lactic acid bacteria;

    Sammanfattning : The spread of lifestyle-related diseases has become epidemic throughout the world. Impaired glucose metabolism and high levels of plasma cholesterol are risk factors for the development of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease respectively. LÄS MER
