  1. 21. Management of patients treated with left ventricular assist devices : A clinical and experimental study

    Författare :Bengt Peterzén; Henrik Casimir-Ahn; Hans Ruthberg; Lars Wiklund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; postcardiotomy heart failure; perioperative monitoring; coronary artery bypass; heart-assist devices; heart failure; congestive; ventricular dysfunction; Thoracic surgery; Thoraxkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the management of patients treated with mechanical circulatory support devices for short- or long-term use. Twenty-four patients suffering from postcardiotomy heart failure were treated with a minimally invasive axial flow pump. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Assessment of Pulmonary Blood Flow in Heart Failure. Using Novel and Non-Invasive Diagnostic Methods

    Författare :Mariam Al-Mashat; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; heart failure; magnetic resonance imaging; pulmonary congestion; pulmonary perfusion; tomographic lung scintigraphy; V P SPECT;

    Sammanfattning : In heart failure (HF), the heart is unable to pump effectively in order to satisfy the demands of the body. The elevated filling pressure seen in HF leads to accumulation of fluid in the lungs, i.e pulmonary congestion. While investigation with chest X-ray is recommended, it has limitations in detecting pulmonary congestion. LÄS MER

  3. 23. RoPax Ship Collision – a Methodology for Survivability Analysis

    Författare :Per Hogström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-linear FEA; failure modelling; uncertainty analysis; Crashworthiness; sheet metal failure; ship collision; damage stability;

    Sammanfattning : Throughout the world, ships are continuously being declared as total losses and 10 to 15% of these accidents are collisions between ships. The consequences of a collision are diverse and depend on the ship type, e.g. oil outflow in the case of damaged tankers or loss of stability in damaged passenger ships. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Body mass index and mental health in young people - predictors of early heart failure and cardiomyopathy

    Författare :Josefina Robertson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heart failure; Cardiomyopathy; Overweight; Obesity; Mental disorder; Stress resilience; Young people; Population;

    Sammanfattning : Heart failure among young people is rare, but in contrast to decreasing incidence rates overall, recent studies have found increasing rates among the young over the last decades. Concomitantly, cardiomyopathies, which is a common underlying condition to heart failure at a young age, have more than doubled in Sweden for unknown reasons. LÄS MER
