  1. 6. Seagrass productivity : from plant to system

    Författare :Diana Deyanova; Mats Björk; Mirta Teichberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Seagrass; Chlorophyll a fluorescence; Ageing; Productivity; Seasonality; Stress response; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Seagrasses form one of the most productive habitats on earth and are recognized as very efficient carbon sinks. The levels and patterns of productivity within and across different seagrass systems vary widely due to natural or human-induced factors. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Plant UDP-glucose Pyrophosphorylase : Function and Regulation

    Författare :Meng Meng; Leszek Kleczkowski; Javier Pozueta-Romero; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase; carbohydrate metabolism; in vivo regulation; T-DNA knockout; heterologous expression; isozyme; mutagenesis; kinetic property; oligomerization; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (UGPase) is an important enzyme of carbohydrate metabolism in all living organisms. The main aim of this thesis was to investigate the function and regulation of plant UGP genes as well as the UGPase proteins. LÄS MER

  3. 8. The plant respiratory chain: Redox responses and catalytic definition of alternative pathways

    Författare :Daniela Geisler; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; enzymology; Proteins; Kärlväxters fysiologi; Physiology of vascular plants; Växtekologi; Plant ecology; Växtbiokemi; Plant biochemistry; respiratory chain; plant mitochondria; nitrogen; NADPH dehydrogenase; NADH dehydrogenase; alternative oxidase; calcium; Proteiner; enzymologi; Bioenergetics; Bioenergetik; Lipids; steroids; membranes; Lipider; steroider; mebran;

    Sammanfattning : The respiratory chain of plants contains both proton-pumping enzymes that conserve energy and non-proton-pumping alternative enzymes that bypass the sites of energy conservation. In addition to the proton-pumping complex I, plant mitochondria contain alternative type II NAD(P)H dehydrogenases, which allow oxidation of NADH and NADPH from the matrix and the cytosol. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Control of reactive oxygen species homeostasis in response to environmental stress

    Författare :Malgorzata Plaszczyca; Katharina Pawlowski; Jean-Jacques Drevon; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stress; antioxidant defense; ascorbate peroxidase; aerenchyma; actinorhiza; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Plants are exposed to various fluctuations in their environmental conditions - light intensity, temperature, water status - and have to adapt in order to survive. Plant acclimatory responses can include the formation of new tissues, e.g., aerenchyma, or the activation of defense systems, e. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Aquaporin homologues in Norway spruce (Picea abies)

    Författare :Peter Oliviusson; David I. Dunstan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : The recent discovery of aquaporins - proteins that mediate bidirectional passage of water over membranes - provides a molecular basis for the underlying processes in plant water relations. In plants, aquaporins are found in plasma membranes and in vacuolar membranes (tonoplasts) and are suggested to participate in dynamic operations such as cell elongation, osmotic regulation, and long-distance transport.
