16. On loading protocols and abutment use in implant dentistry. Clinical studies
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Research questions: The influence of immediate or delayed loading and the use of abutments in implant dentistry with regard to peri-implant tissues and the effect of risk parameters. Methodology: Fifty partially edentulous patients each received three Brånemark TiUnite™ implants. LÄS MER
17. A methodological platform to study molecular biocompatibility of biomaterials. Experimental and clinical studies
Sammanfattning : The aim of this project was to develop a methodological platform in order to advance our scientific understanding of the mechanisms of osseointegration. Screw-shaped, titanium implants, with different surface properties, were inserted in the rat tibia, or incubated in mono- or co-culture of human monocytes and MSCs. LÄS MER
18. Multimodal and multiscale characterization of bone and bone interfaces in health and disease
Sammanfattning : Seeing is believing. Our understanding of phenomena often involves their direct observation. However, bone architecture is challenging to visualize given its multi-level hierarchical organization. LÄS MER
19. Towards Natural Control of Artificial Limbs
Sammanfattning : The use of implantable electrodes has been long thought as the solution for a more natural control of artificial limbs, as these offer access to long-term stable and physiologically appropriate sources of control, as well as the possibility to elicit appropriate sensory feedback via neurostimulation. Although these ideas have been explored since the 1960’s, the lack of a long-term stable human-machine interface has prevented the utilization of even the simplest implanted electrodes in clinically viable limb prostheses. 20. Biomaterials for Promoting Self-Healing of Bone Tissue
Sammanfattning : The present work addresses poor bone/implant integration and severe bone defects. In both conditions external stimuli is required for new bone to form. LÄS MER
