1. Synchrotron radiation study of free and adsorbed organic molecules
Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis, organic molecules, namely Cobalt Phthalocyanine (CoPc) and Biphenylene, have been studied by means of synchrotron radiation-based spectroscopic methods (Photoemission Spectroscopy (PES) and X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) in combination with Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations.Paper I is a combined experimental and theoretical investigation of electronic structure of CoPc. 2. Synchrotron Radiation Studies of Molecular Building Blocks for Functional Materials
Sammanfattning : The research on new materials is a primary driving force for progress in human society. One of the most significant research topic nowadays is the development of new functional materials for technological applications, like perovskite implemented in solar cells, and graphene as a representative for the new 2D materials family. 3. From single-molecule sensing to extracellular vesicles in glioma cells under stress
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the work I conducted in two different areas, namely biomolecular sensing and quantitative cell biology. The work in the former area was focused on the optimization of plasmonic metamaterials for sensing applications, and in the latter on the characterization of extracellular vesicles released by glioblastoma cells under stress conditions. 4. Molecular overlayers on homogeneous and heterogeneous metal surfaces studied by core-level photoemission
Sammanfattning : The main topic of this thesis is the investigation of small molecules adsorbed on metal surfaces by means of core-level photoemission spectroscopy. The thesis consists of three parts; The first group of papers concerns the effects of internal molecular vibrations on the core-level photoemission spectra. LÄS MER
5. Molecular Alligator Clips: A Study of Metal-Molecule Contacts for Molecular Electronics
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we present a computational study of the elementary building blocks for molecular electronics, interconnected electronic devices with critical dimensions below 5 nm. Building electronic circuits on that scale requires stable connection between the various parts of the device and to the macroscopic metal electrodes, needed for power supply, support and integration with conventional electronics.
