  1. 1. The leukocyte complexity and mutational landscape of periampullary adenocarcinoma. Morphology matters

    Författare :Sebastian Lundgren; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; periampullary adenocarcinoma; pancreatic cancer; immune microenviroment; prognosis; macrophages; natural killer cells; natural killer T cells; T cells; B cells;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Periampullary adenocarcinomas are a heterogenous group of tumours with poor prognosis that hasnot improved considerably the last decades. Tumour morphology, i.e. intestinal type (I-type) or pancreatobiliarytype (PB-type), has been demonstrated to be a more relevant prognostic factor than anatomical origin. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mechanisms influencing natural killer cell recognition of tumour cells

    Författare :Monika Enqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells are part of our innate immune defence against virus-infected and transformed cells. Through a yet undefined mechanism, expression of inhibitory receptors for self-HLA class I molecules endow NK cells with increased functionality. The process leading to gain of function through inhibition is known as NK cell education. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Interstitial laser thermotherapy (ILT) of breast cancer - Methodology and immunological responce

    Författare :Kristin Huld-Haraldsdottir; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; Laser thermotherapy; Minimally invasive treatment; Tumour immunology; Thermal treatment; Tumour size; Magnetic resonance imaging;

    Sammanfattning : Interstitial laser thermotherapy (ILT) is an attractive form of local therapy against cancer because of its anti-tumor immune activity. The aim of this work was to evaluate ILT in breast cancer with respect to technique, changes in tissue immunocompetent cells and effect on prognosis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Antigen presenting cells in autoimmune diabetes: phenotype, function and modulation by Linomide

    Författare :Eva Dahlén; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; secreting systems; Endocrinology; Linomide; costimulation; TNF-a; dendritic cells; Diabetes; macrophages; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to better understand the role of antigen presenting cells (APC) in the development of diabetes in the nonobese diabetic (NOD) mouse. We have shown that DC and Mphi that infiltrate the islets of Langerhans produce tumour necrosis factor-a (TNF-a), a cytokine known to contribute to the pathogenesis in the early stages of diabetes development. 5. 5. The therapeutic potential of ex vivo expanded natural killer (NK) cells for immunotherapy of cancer

    Författare :Hayrettin Guven; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Natural killer NK cells; Natural killer-like T NKT cells; Gene transfer; Retrovirus; Good manufacturing practice GMP ; Ex vivo; In vivo; SCID-beige.;

    Sammanfattning : Cell and gene therapy of cancers has received much attention in the past decade. A number of applications of cancer treatment have been developed and used. One of the recent applications is immunotherapy of tumours with human natural killer (NK) cells. LÄS MER
