  1. 16. Influence of MHC class I peptide interaction on antigen presentation in normal and malignant cells

    Författare :Qian-Jin Zhang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cytotoxic T lymphocytes; Natural Killer cells; Epstein-Barr virus; MHC class I; class I binding motifs; T cell receptor; antigen presentation; immunodominance;

    Sammanfattning : The presentation of MHC class I peptide complexes in normal and malignant cells was studied. An HLA A11 binding motif was defined by comparing synthetic peptide analogues of a known cytotoxic T Iymphocyte (CTL) target epitope for induction of surface A11 expression and triggering of cytotoxic activity. 2. 17. MHC and genomic diversity in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.)

    Författare :Jakob Lohm; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Djurekologi; cytogenetik; Genetik; cytogenetics; Genetics; nucleotide diversity; isolation-by-distance; DGGE; AFLP; furunculosis; disease resistance; Arctic charr; brown trout; Atlantic salmon; population genetics; genetic variation; Mhc class IIB; Animal ecology;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I present studies concerning genomic diversity and genetic heterogeneity as well as the evolution and maintenance of genetic variation at a specific immune defence gene in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar, L.). LÄS MER

  3. 18. Mapping of the specificity in MHC class I recognition by natural killer cells

    Författare :Margareta Waldenström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells represent the third major lymphocyte subpopulation. They are distinguishable from B and T lymphocytes by their surface phenotype, cytokine profile and the ability to mediate spontaneous cytotoxicity, without prior sensitization, against certain tumor cells and virally infected cells. 4. 19. MHC-class I restricted peptide-based immunomodulation of CD8+ T and NK cells

    Författare :Adil Doganay Duru; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The main aims of the immune system are to protect the host from potential threats by distinguishing self from non-self and altered-self. T cells and NK cells play a key role in the identification and elimination of threats by scanning a repertoire of peptide epitopes presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. 5. 20. Decoding NK cell receptor specificity : functional and structural studies of MHC class 1 subcomponents

    Författare :Jakob Michaëlsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :NK cells; MHC class 1; inhibitory receptors;

    Sammanfattning : Natural Killer (NK) cells are an important part of the innate immune system. They can lyse target cells and secrete immunoregulatory cytokines early during immune responses. They mediate protection against viruses and tumours, and can reject MHC class I mismatched bone marrow grafts. LÄS MER
