    Författare :Kristoffer Derwinger; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :colorectal cancer; prognosis; lymph nodes; lymph node ratio; MTHFR; cyclin E; TNM; staging; metastasis;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The aim of the thesis was to study prognostic and predictive factors in patients treated for colorectal cancer (CRC). Method: In paper I, a retrospective comparison was made between the patients treated in 1999 (n=180) with those treated in 2004 (n=175). LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignancies in Sweden, with more than 5000 new cases annually. Median age at time of diagnosis is approximately 75 years. Owing to the ageing population, the incidence of colorectal cancer is increasing. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Effect of thimerosal on the murine immune system : especially induction of systemic autoimmunity

    Författare :Said Havarinasab; Per Hultman; Klas Nordlind; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; thimerosal; ethylmercury; autoimmunity; mice; immunosuppression; Th1; Th2; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The organic mercury compound ethylmercurithiosalicylate (thimerosal), an antiseptic and a preservative, has recently raised public health concern due to its presence in vaccines globally. Thimerosal dissociates in the body to thiosalicylate and ethyl mercury (EtHg), which is partly converted to inorganic mercuric mercury (Hg2+). LÄS MER

  5. 5. TISSUE MICROARRAY PERSPECTIVES ON CYCLIN D1 IN BREAST CANCER: Progression, prognosis and prediction

    Författare :Karin Jirström; Tumörmikromiljö; []

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is a truly heterogenous disease, reflected in the existence of a wide spectrum of phenotypic subsets of tumours with varying intrinsic aggressiveness as well as ability to respond to a given treatment. Recent advances in large-scale genomic and proteomic screening techniques have confirmed this heterogeneity also at a molecular level, but there is still a bottleneck to be overcome before the discoveries in the laboratory can be translated into the much more complex clinical situation in order to develop better targeted therapies.
