  1. 1. Effects of Complement Opsonization of HIV on Dendritic Cells and Implications for the Immune Response

    Detta är en avhandling från Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Författare :Rada Ellegård; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [2018]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HIV; dendritic cells; complement; innate immune response; TLR signaling; T cell activation; NK cells; inflammation; antiviral response; immune evasion;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells are key players during HIV pathogenesis, and shape both the immediate immune response at the site of infection as well as directing the adaptive immune response against the virus. HIV has developed a plethora of immune evasion mechanisms that hijack dendritic cell functions, suppressing their ability to mount an accurate immune response and exploiting them for efficient viral transfer to target T cells. 2. 2. The Immune System in the Oldest-Old Clinical and Immunological Studies in the NONA Immune Cohort

    Detta är en avhandling från Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Författare :Bengt-Olof Nilsson; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; Östergötlands Läns Landsting.; [2010]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Elderly; selection; health status; lymphocyte subsets; CD8; CMV; cytomegalovirus; immune risk; immune risk phenotype; IRP; T-cells; interleukin 6; IL-6; survival; mortality; antinuclear antibodies; ANA; ageing; immunosenescence; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The oldest-old (people aged 80 or older) constituted 5 % of the population in Sweden in 2000, an increase from 1.5 % fifty years earlier. The immune system undergoes dramatic changes at high age, sometimes referred to as “immunosenescence”. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Immune cells in pregnant uterine mucosa : functional properties, cellular composition and tissue organization

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Författare :Lucia Mincheva-Nilsson; Umeå universitet.; [1993]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; immunologically privileged site; TCR γδ cells; CD56 cells; large granular lymphocytes; immunosuppression; cytokine; interleukin; lymphoid cell cluster; intraepithelial lymphocytes; glandular epithelium; immuno electron microscopy; pregnancy; decidua; lactoferrin; lactoferrin receptor; colostrum;

    Sammanfattning : The pregnant uterus mucosa - decidua - is an "immunologically privileged" site. A semiallogeneic embryo is allowed to survive, develop, and grow while the same tissue implanted outside the uterus will be rejected. The decidua basalis, which participates in the placenta formation, is a tissue rich in lymphoid cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Immune maturation in early childhood and the influence of herpesvirus infections

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University

    Författare :Ebba Sohlberg; Stockholms universitet.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Immune differentiation; monocytes; NK cells; B cells; T cells; Epstein-Barr virus; EBV; cytomegalovirus; CMV; IFN-γ; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : The quality of immune responses develops from birth into adulthood and in the context of the host microbial environment. The aim of this work was to study immune maturation during childhood, and how this process can be affected by the common herpesviruses; Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Approaches to analyses of cytotoxic cells. And studies of their role in H. pylori infection

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University

    Författare :Josef Azem; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2005]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Helicobacter pylori; mucosal immunology; stomach; duodenum; asymptomatic; duodenal ulcer; gastric adenocarcinoma; NK cells; T cells; B cells; dendritic cells; cytotoxic;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori infection causes chronic gastritis that may progress to peptic ulcers or gastric adenocarcinoma and thereby cause major world-wide health problems. Previous studies have shown that CD4+ T cells and the production of the cytokine IFN- × are important components of the immune response to H. pylori in humans. LÄS MER
