    Författare :Diana Lee-Smith; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban areas; Surveys; Social structure; Rural housing; Rural areas; Research; Legal aspects; Land use; Land ownership; Land acquisition; Kenya; Income distribution; Housing; Home ownership; Food; Firewood; Family; Domestic labour; Community organization; Data collecting; Urban housing; Urban powerty; Use of dwelling; Water; Women; Architecture; interior design; Arkitektur; inredningsarkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores women’s access to property in Kenya. It consists of three parts. The first gives the Kenyan background, the theoretical and methodological approach. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Data-driven analysis of water and nutrient flows: Case of the Sava River Catchment and comparison with other regions

    Författare :Lea Levi; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Georgia Destouni; Roko Andričević; Ronny Berndtsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; River catchment; Transboundary; Hydro-climatic change; Total nitrogen; Total phosphorus; CMIP5; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A growing human population and demands for food, freshwater and energy are causing extensive changes in the water and biogeochemical cycles of river catchments around the world. Addressing and investigating such changes is particularly important for transboundary river catchments, where they impose additional risk to a region’s stability. LÄS MER

  3. 23. METHODS FOR TRANSBOUNDARY WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT IN WATER STRESSED REGIONS – CASE STUDY: SOUTHERN AFRICA

    Författare :Dinis Juizo; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; river basin simulation; water quality monitoring; stakeholders involvement; Southern Africa; South Africa; Mozambique; transboundary water systems; Swaziland;

    Sammanfattning : Water resources management in water scarce regions like the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) is challenging with both large hydro-climatic-induced scarcity and the considerable inter-annual fluctuations at the centre of the allocation problem. Water must be allocated both in time and space using acceptable criteria and most importantly, all stakeholders must adhere to the decisions imposed by water sharing agreements. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Batch Sorption Studies of Aqueous Cadmium and Lead from Contaminated Water onto Selected Biosorbents

    Författare :Grace Kizito Bakyayita; Ann-Catrine Norrström; Robinah N. Kulabako; Maimuna Nalubega; Roger Thunvik; Ann-Margret Hvitt Strömvall; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biosorbents; cadmium; competitive uptake; Freundlich; pseudo-second-order kinetics; Langmuir; lead; remediation; risks; speciation; toxicity effects; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Groundwater, wastewater, surface runoff and surface water samples from Lake Victoria basin, Uganda was assessed for trace metals contamination. Untreated, base-treated and peroxide-treated biosorbents from Albizia coriaria, Coffea canephora, Cyperus papyrus, Erythrina abyssinica and Musa spp were investigated for removal of selected trace metals from contaminated water in batch studies. 5. 25. An add-on filter technique to improve micropollutant removal and water quality in on-site sewage treatment facilities

    Författare :Wen Zhang; Gunno Renman; Erik Kärrman; Carlos Alberto Arias; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Micropollutant; on-site sewage facilities; physicochemical properties; pore structure; sorbents; surface functional group; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Onsite sewage treatment facilities (OSSFs) in Sweden currently release significant amounts of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) into groundwater or/and receiving water bodies. Micropollutants (MPs) have been found in both surface water and groundwater, indicating insufficient removal of MPs by OSSFs. LÄS MER
