41. Teratogenicity as a consequence of drug-induced embryonic cardiac arrhythmia : Common mechanism for almokalant, sotalol, cisapride, and phenytoin via inhibition of IKr
Sammanfattning : During the last years, drugs that prolong the repolarisation phase of the myocardial action potential, due to inhibition of the rapid component of the delayed-rectifying potassium channel (IKr) have been in focus. In addition to arrhythmogenic potential, selective Ikr-blockers have also been shown to be embryotoxic and teratogenic in animal studies. LÄS MER
42. Transducer properties of a mechanoreceptor : an electrophysiological and pharmacological study of the crayfish stretch receptor
Sammanfattning : The abdominal stretch receptor organ of the crayfish, an analog to the human muscle spindle, contains one slowly adapting (SA) and one rapidly adapting (RA) receptor neuron. The general aims of this project were to elucidate, in the SA and RA neurons, the participation of voltagegated Na+ and K+ channels in overall transducer process and adaptation, and to study possible blocking agents specific to mechanosensitive (MS) channels. 43. Regulation of ion transport in the gastrointestinal tract : aspects of early development
Sammanfattning : Ion transport in the gastrointestinal tract is vital for cellular homeostasis and to ensure growth during ontogeny. We have therefore investigated the regulation and maturation of sodium, potassium and hydrogen transport in the gastrointestinal tract. Net jejunal sodium absorption is significantly higher in young as compared to adult rats. LÄS MER
44. Mechanisms of adaptation in a mechanoreceptor : a study of mechanical and ionic factors in the crayfish stretch receptors
Sammanfattning : The stretch receptor organ of the crayfish, an analog to the human muscle spindle, is a unique preparation for the study of mechanotransduction. The organ consists of a rapidly and a slowly adapting receptor each composed of a receptor muscle fibre into which inserts the dendrites of a multipolar sensory neuron. LÄS MER
45. Patch clamp and calcium studies on human colonic mucosal cells
Sammanfattning : Background: The main function of the large intestine is to fine-tune electrolyte and water balance. This is achieved through the consorted action of ion channels, transporters and pumps. Failures of this system can lead to diarrhoea. LÄS MER
