16. Clinical and physiological consequences of preoxygenation using high-flow nasal oxygen in emergency anaesthesia
Sammanfattning : Emergency anaesthesia is usually performed using a rapid sequence induction technique. The incidence of desaturation during rapid sequence induction is high, and preoxygenation prolongs the safe apnoea time. LÄS MER
17. Involvement of Membrane Transport Proteins in Intestinal Absorption and Hepatic Disposition of Drugs Using Fexofenadine as a Model Drug
Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were to study the in vivo relevance of membrane transporters for intestinal absorption and the hepatic disposition of drugs in humans and preclinical models. Fexofenadine is a substrate for ABCB1 (P-glycoprotein) and members of the organic anion transporting polypeptide (OATP/SLCO) family. LÄS MER
18. Postoperative sore throat and hoarseness : clinical studies in patients undergoing general anasthesia
Sammanfattning : A common problem following general anesthesia is postoperative sore throat (POST) and postoperative hoarseness (PH). Symptoms directly correlated with less satisfaction according to the patients. LÄS MER
19. Aspects of neonatal intensive care and anesthesia : Thermal balance and respiratory management
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on four articles originating from three studies conducted in the neonatal intensive care unit and the children’s operating deparment at Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden. The overall aim was to obtain new knowledge about thermal balance and care environment in extremely preterm infants during skin-to-skin care (SSC), evaluate different methods of intraoperative monitoring of carbon dioxide (CO2), and to investigate how different levels of inhaled oxygen affect infants’ oxygenation during anesthesia and surgery. 20. Nursing and anaesthesia care of growing pigs
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present thesis was to improve the welfare of animals in research by refining the perioperative nursing and anaesthesia care of growing pigs in accordance with the 3Rs, replace, reduce and refine.Forty-six pigs were trained during a 14-day acclimatisation period to accept blood and urine sampling and ultrasound examination.
