11. Filament assembly and structural studies of intermediate filament like protein, FilP, in Streptomyces coelicolor
Sammanfattning : The cytoskeleton, known as intracellular connected filaments, has a prominent role in cellular behavior, motility, and stability. The following three major types of polymers have been characterized as cytoskeleton in eukaryotes: microtubules that are 25 nm in diameter, actin filaments that are 7 nm in diameter, and intermediate filaments (IF) that are 10 nm in diameter. 12. A study of the cell adhesions molecules, E-cadherin and C-CAM, and the intermediate filaments, nestin, in craniofacial and tooth development
Sammanfattning : Cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) are involved in cell migration, morphogenesis, and cell differentiation within the embryo, and later in the maintenance of the multicellular organism. The aim of the present investigation was to analyze and compare the distribution of the CAMs, E-cadherin and C-CAM, during odontogenesis and palate formation, and furthermore, to analyze the expression of the intermediate filament (IF), nestin, in odontogenesis. 13. Cell motility : the organization of the microfilament system in cultured cells with special emphasis on the cortical weave of actin filaments
Sammanfattning : The microfilament system formed by actin, myosin and associated proteins constitutes the molecular basis for many of the motile phenomena which eukaryotic cells express. The organization of this system varies considerably from cell type to cell type, and is characterized on one hand by strictly ordered, more or less flexible arrangements of actin filaments and on the other by actin present in primarily a nonfilamentous form ready to polymerize in response to certain stimuli. 14. Isolation and characterization of adult neural stem cells
Sammanfattning : Injury to the central nervous system (CNS) is one of man's most handicapping situations resulting in severe functional impairment and in some cases a vegetative state where life is supported artificially. The brain and spinal cord, constituting the CNS, have been viewed for decades as having limited capacity of regeneration with no neurogenesis in the adult. LÄS MER
15. Nestin : filament formation and expression in myogenesis and muscle disorders
Sammanfattning : Intermediate filaments (IF), together with microfilaments and microtubules, are the major components of the cytoskeleton of eukaryotic cells. In myogenic cells three IF proteins are expressed; desmin, vimentin and nestin. LÄS MER
