  1. 36. Answers of big biological data to unsolved diabetes questions - Unveiling causes of impaired β-cell insulin secretion

    Författare :Alexandros Karagiannopoulos; Diabetes - öcellsexocytos; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glucocorticoids; beta cell; miRNA; type 2 diabetes; insulin secretion; bioinformatics;

  2. 37. Exocytosis in insulin secreting cells - role of SNARE-proteins

    Författare :Jenny Vikman; Diabetes - öcellsexocytos; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; calcium channel; cAMP; syntaxin 1; SNAP-25; SNARE; exocytosis; Insulin secretion; pancreatic beta-cells;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes is marked by deterioration in pancreatic β-cell function. SNARE-proteins are crucial for the fusion of insulin granules with the plasma membrane, a prerequisite for insulin secretion. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Free fatty acids and insulin hypersecretion studied in human islets

    Författare :Jing Cen; Peter Bergsten; Miriam Cnop; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; free fatty acids; palmitate; human islets; EndoC-βH1 cells; metformin; sorcin; insulin secretion; mitochondrial respiration; ER stress; human transcriptome array; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Free fatty acid (FFA) levels are increased in many obese subjects. High FFA levels stimulate the pancreatic beta-cells but have negative long-term effects. In obese children with high FFA levels circulating insulin concentration is high early in life but decline with age precipitating the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). LÄS MER

  4. 39. From the pancreatic beta cell to the endothelium:Pathophysiological aspects of Type 2 Diabetes

    Författare :Marloes Dekker Nitert; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sekretion; diabetologi; diabetology; insulin secretion; beta cells; glucose tolerance; insulin receptors; IGF-I receptors; endothelial cells; Endokrinologi; Type 2 Diabetes; secreting systems; Endocrinology;

    Sammanfattning : The incidence of Diabetes Mellitus increases globally in epidemic proportions. Type 2 Diabetes is the most prevalent form of Diabetes, comprising 90% of the patients. In Type 2 Diabetes, two processes contribute to the development of the disease: insufficient insulin secretion from the pancreatic ?-cell and insulin resistance of the target organs. LÄS MER

  5. 40. ATP Dynamics in Pancreatic α- and β-cells

    Författare :Jia Li; Anders Tengholm; Erik Gylfe; Hindrik Mulder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ATP; Ca2 ; β-cell; α-cell; SERCA; SOCE; muscarinic receptor; insulin secretion; glucagon secretion; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glucose metabolism in pancreatic α- and β-cells is believed to regulate secretion of glucagon and insulin, respectively. In β-cells, ATP links glucose metabolism to electrical activity and insulin secretion. LÄS MER
