21. Wnt/beta-catenin signaling in midbrain dopaminergic neurons
Sammanfattning : Parkinson's disease (PD) is caused by a progressive degeneration of the dopaminergic (DA) neurons of the substantia nigra. However, the mechanisms underlying the degeneration remain elusive and there is no cure for P1) at present. LÄS MER
22. Effects of aging and inflammatory molecules on the suprachiasmatic circadian clock
Sammanfattning : The suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) is considered the master circadian pacemaker in the mammalian brain and is vital for generating physiological and behavioral circadian rhythms. During aging and inflammatory conditions the circadian system is frequently affected, but relatively little is known about the mechanisms underlying such effects. LÄS MER
23. Cell interactions in the CNS and their consequences for neuronal apoptosis
Sammanfattning : The central nervous system consists of an intricate network of neurons and glial cells that depend on reciprocal communication to develop and maintain the vital functions of the brain. if the balance is disturbed by injury or disease, two cell types in particular, microglia and astrocytes, respond by producing factors that help combat the infection or delimit the affected area. 24. Dissection of immunity controlling spread and growth of Listeria monocytogenes in neuronal cells
Sammanfattning : Listeria monocytogenes is a Grain-positive, facultative intracellular bacterium that causes severe infections in the nervous system of domestic animals and humans. Rhombencephalitis (brainstem encephalitis) due to L. monocytogenes, is a localized brainstem infection that is frequent in ruminants, and has been reported in humans as well. LÄS MER
25. On laminins and laminin receptors and their roles in regeneration and myelination of the peripheral nerve
Sammanfattning : One important prerequisite for successful axon regeneration is that appropriate extracellular molecules are available for outgrowing axons and that receptors for such molecules are found in the regenerating neuron. Laminin associated integrin subunits alpha3, alpha6, alpha7 and beta1 mRNAs are here shown to be present in rat motoneurons, and in the case of integrin subunits alpha7 and gamma1, also immunohistochemical (IHC) labelling of the proteins was demonstrated.
