    Författare :Gabriel Westman; Britt-Marie Eriksson; Martin Ingelsson; Olle Korsgren; Jan Ernerudh; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimer s disease; Herpes simplex encephalitis; Herpesvirus; Cytomegalovirus; CMV; HSV-1; HHV-6; CD8 T-cells; Cellular immunity; Immunosenescence; Autoimmunity; NMDA receptor; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Herpesviruses have co-speciated with several vertebrate and invertebrate animals throughout the history of evolution. In the immunocompetent human host, primary infection is usually benign, whereafter the virus is brought into life-long latency. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Herpesvirus infections in transplant recipients

    Författare :Jenny K Lindahl; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Allogeneic stem cell transplantation; Cytomegalovirus; Epstein-Barr virus; Human Herpesvirus type 6; Renal transplantation; Varicella zoster virus;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Herpesvirus infections are common and can cause serious and life-threatening conditions in transplanted individuals. In this thesis, consisting of 4 papers (I-IV), we investigated primary infection and reactivation of Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Human Herpesvirus type 6 (HHV-6), Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) and Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) in transplant patients. 3. 3. Structural and functional studies of novel viral complement inhibitors

    Författare :Linda Mark; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; serologi; serology; Kaposi s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus; Immunologi; Immunology; homology modeling; complement inhibitor;

    Sammanfattning : Viruses have developed several strategies to evade the complement system, a part of the immune system. The fourth open reading frame of the human virus Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) encodes a type 1 transmembrane protein. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Differences i tropism and viral assembly pathways of human herpesvirus 6A and 6B (HHV-6A and 6B) and association of host cell proteins in HHV-6A virions

    Författare :Jenny Ahlqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Human herpesvirus 6A and 6B (HHV-6A and 6B) are considered to be T-lymphotropic viruses. The overall nucleotide sequence identity between the two variants is 90% and each differs by only nine variant-specific open reading frames. HHV-6A and 6B have often been recognized as one virus and simply termed HHV-6. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Viral infections in immunosuppressed patients with hematological malignancies

    Författare :Igge Gustafsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Acute or reactivated viral infections are common in patients who are immunosuppressed because of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) or chemotherapy due to hematological malignancies. The severity of the immunosuppression, the type of immune functions that are affected by various therapeutic interventions, as well as underlying hematological malignancy contributes to viral susceptibility and clinical outcome of the infection.
