Sammanfattning : The Internet has significantly reduced the cost of producing, accessing, and using data, with governments, companies, open data advocates, and researchers observing open data’s potential for promoting democratic and innovative solutions and with open data’s global market size estimated at billions of dollars in the European Union alone (Carrara, Chan, Fischer, & Steenbergen, 2015). This thesis explores the concept of open data, describing and analyzing how open data adoption occurs to better identify and understand key challenges in this process and thus contribute to better use of the available data resources and valuable services for citizens. 25. Navigating Troubled Waters : An analysis of how urban water regimes in the global South reproduce inequality
Sammanfattning : This research is an attempt to conceptualize the underlying forces behind persistent and ubiquitous problems of inequality in access to water in cities of the global south. Inequality in water access is hypothesized to result from urban water regimes that tend to prioritize the right to water access or to provide preferential terms of access for some groups in society, while marginalizing others.
