16. Predictive and prognostic factors of epithelial ovarian cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of my thesis was to investigate potential prognostic and predictive factors associated with the tumor cells of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and the gastrointestinal tumor pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) to improve and individualize cancer therapy. Both PMP and EOC can develop into peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC), which is characterized by widespread metastasis of cancer tumors in the peritoneal cavity. LÄS MER
17. Functional role of a constitutively active dioxin/Ah receptor in a transgenic mouse model
Sammanfattning : The dioxin/ Aryl hydrocarbon receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor that mediates most (if not all) of the toxic effects of the group of highly potent environmental pollutants collectively called dioxins and PCBs, including the highly toxic compound 2,3,7,8tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). The toxic effects include immune suppression, endocrine disruption, impaired reproduction and carcinogenesis. LÄS MER
18. Genomic Profiling, Mutations and Deranged Signaling in Esophageal Cancer and Hereditary Colorectal Cancer
Sammanfattning : Esophageal cancer and colorectal cancer represents two major types of gastrointestinal tumors. Though refined surgery and introduction of novel chemotherapeutics have improved outcome, more than 2500 Swedes die from these diseases every year. Novel markers for early diagnosis, prognosis and treatment prediction are therefore needed. LÄS MER
19. Ultrasensitive DNA sequencing using liquid biopsies enables precision medicine
Sammanfattning : Liquid biopsies are minimally invasive and allow repetitive sampling of body fluids. Analysis of cell-free tumor DNA in liquid biopsies can be used as a biomarker for cancer. However, in most clinically relevant liquid biopsies, cell-free DNA is present at low concentrations, contains minute tumor allele frequencies, and is highly fragmented. LÄS MER
20. Small Intestinal Neuroendocrine Tumor : A Rare Malignancy with Favorable Outcome
Sammanfattning : Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumor (SI-NET) is the most common small bowel tumor in Europe and USA, with an annual incidence of around 0.3-1.3/100000 persons. LÄS MER
