16. Novel Porous Films from Functional and Biocompatible Linear-Dendritic Hybrids
Sammanfattning : In the last decades, the fabrication of ordered nano- and microporous structures has attracted increasing interest due to their specific properties and multiple possible applications in electronics, as templates or in the biological field. The development of such materials has been favored by the introduction of the simple breath-figure templating method in the 1990’s. LÄS MER
17. Influence of waxes on bitumen and asphalt concrete mixture performance
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis consists of a literature review, presented in two papers, and another six papers describing experimental studies of the influence of different kinds of wax and polyphosporic acid on bitumen and asphalt concrete mixture properties. The literature review should give an extensive description of the field of knowledge concerning wax in bitumen. LÄS MER
18. Wood xylan and modified xylan - Solubilization, film formation and water interactions
Sammanfattning : Wood xylans are biopolymers that are valuable for future materials and renewable engineering solutions. In this study, xylan solubility in polar solvents and film formation were investigated. LÄS MER
19. Plasma Characterization & Thin Film Growth and Analysis in Highly Ionized Magnetron Sputtering
Sammanfattning : The present thesis addresses two research areas related to film growth in a highly ionized magnetron sputtering system: plasma characterization, and thin film growth and analysis. The deposition technique used is called high power pulsed magnetron sputtering (HPPMS). LÄS MER
20. Polymer Nanocomposites in Thin Film Applications
Sammanfattning : The introduction of a nanoscopic reinforcing phase to a polymer matrix offers great possibilities of obtaining improved properties, enabling applications outside the boundaries of traditional composites. The majority of the work in this thesis has been devoted to polymer/clay nanocomposites in coating applications, using the hydroxyl-functional hyperbranched polyester Boltorn® as matrix and montmorillonite clay as nanofiller.
