  1. 1. Novel Porous Films from Functional and Biocompatible Linear-Dendritic Hybrids

    Författare :Marie V. Walter; Michael Malkoch; Steve P. Rannard; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; poly ethylene glycol ; poly caprolactone ; linear-dendritic hybrid; click chemistry; CuAAC; thiol-ene chemistry; amphiphilic polymer; honeycomb film; isoporous film; thiol; dendrimer;

    Sammanfattning : In the last decades, the fabrication of ordered nano- and microporous structures has attracted increasing interest due to their specific properties and multiple possible applications in electronics, as templates or in the biological field. The development of such materials has been favored by the introduction of the simple breath-figure templating method in the 1990’s. LÄS MER

  2. 2. From Responsive Interfaces to Honeycomb Membranes by Controlled Radical Polymerisation

    Författare :Daniel Nyström; Anders Hult; Søren Hvilsted; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Isoporous membranes; Silica nanoparticles; ATRP; Functional surfaces; cellulose; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Sammanfattning : In this study, surface modification of both organic and inorganic substrates (in terms of cellulose and silica nanoparticles, respectively) has been explored using surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerisation (ATRP). The desire to modify bio-based materials to fit into new application areas and the need for bio-based materials with improved material properties is steadily increasing due to environmental concern. 3. 3. Scanning tunneling microscopy and photoemission studies of Ag films on metal/semiconductor surfaces

    Författare :Samuel Starfelt; Hanmin Zhang; Lars Johansson; Anders Mikkelsen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum well states; thin films; semiconductor; STM; STS; ARPES; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis has been focused on the study of thin Ag films, grown on metal-reconstructed Si(111) and Ge(111) surfaces.The films have been grown at room temperature, and the morphologiesand electronic structures of the films have been investigated using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS), low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) and angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy(ARPES). 4. 4. Thin Mn silicide and germanide layers studied by photoemission and STM

    Författare :Joakim Hirvonen Grytzelius; Lars Johansson; Hanmin Zhang; Leif Johansson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semiconductor surfaces; Si 111 ; Ge 111 ; manganese; Mn; silicides; germanides; atomic structure; electronic structure; magnetic properties; LEED; ARPES; XPS; core-level spectroscopy; STM; STS; XMCD; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis concerns experimental studies of thin manganese silicide and germanide layers, grown by solid phase epitaxy on the Si(111)7×7 and the Ge(111)c(2×8) surfaces, respectively. The atomic and electronic structures, as well as growth modes of the epitaxial Mn-Si and Mn-Ge layers, were investigated by low-energy electron diffraction (LEED), angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES), core-level spectroscopy (CLS), and scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM and STS). 5. 5. Structured zeolite adsorbents for PSA applications

    Författare :Alessandra Mosca; Joeri Denayer; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical Technology; Kemisk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Zeolites are microporous crystalline aluminosilicates with unique properties, and are therefore used in adsorption processes, for membrane separation, and as catalysts. Thin zeolite films grown on honeycomb monolith supports represent a new type of material and may be used as structured catalysts and adsorbents, and improve the processes significantly. LÄS MER
