26. Biorefining of lignocellulose : Detoxification of inhibitory hydrolysates and potential utilization of residual streams for production of enzymes
Sammanfattning : Lignocellulosic biomass is a renewable resource that can be utilized for the production of biofuels, chemicals, and bio-based materials. Biochemical conversion of lignocellulose to advanced biofuels, such as cellulosic ethanol, is generally performed through microbial fermentation of sugars generated by thermochemical pretreatment of the biomass followed by an enzymatic hydrolysis of the cellulose. 27. Systems biology of protein synthesis and secretion in yeast
Sammanfattning : Protein synthesis and secretion is a vital process to maintain cell function. As it demands numerous building blocks, cofactors and chaperones generated from metabolism and translation, the process is intertwined with metabolic and regulatory networks. LÄS MER
28. Discovery and applications of family AA9 lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases
Sammanfattning : Auxililary activity family 9 lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (abbreviated as AA9s or LPMO9s) are fungal mono-copper enzymes capable of oxidatively cleaving various plant cell wall oligo- and/or polysaccharides. LPMO9s are key components of lignocellulolytic enzyme cocktails used in today’s biorefineries to break down biomass into fermentable sugars. LÄS MER
29. Alkaliphilic Bacillus species and an alkaline active lipolytic enzyme
Sammanfattning : The Great Rift Valley running through Eastern Africa contains a large number of soda lakes. These unique lakes constitute among the most stable alkaline environments with a dense and varied population of microorganisms. Such microorganisms are invariable alkaliphiles and are considered to be a promising source of enzymes with unique features. LÄS MER
30. Structural Studies on PP2A and Methods in Protein Production
Sammanfattning : PP2A is a major phosphatase in the cell that participates in multiple cell signaling pathways. It is a heterotrimer of a core dimer and variable regulatory subunits. Details of its structure, function and regulation are slowly emerging. Here, the structure of two regulators of PP2A are de-scribed; PTPA and B56γ. LÄS MER
