  1. 16. DNA adductomics: Method development and integration in biological effect monitoring

    Författare :Giulia Martella; Elena Gorokhova; Hitesh V. Motwani; Brita Sundelin; Gunnar Boysen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA adducts; Nucleic acids; High-resolution mass spectrometry; Data-independent acquisition; Biological effect monitoring; Environmental contaminants; Biomarkers; Amphipods as sentinel species; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Environmental omics can provide informative biomarkers for identifying pathologies or physiological responses to environmental change. Nucleic acid adductomics, one of the newest omics techniques, is particularly well suited for assessing exposure and effects of environmental contaminants because the technique can capture modifications at the (epi)genome level. 2. 17. Fish bile in environmental analysis

    Författare :Margaretha Adolfsson-Erici; Michael McLachlan; Lillemor Asplund; Freek Ariese; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fish bile estrogenic triclosan rubber additives pulp and paper; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : This work explores the usefulness of fish bile analysis in combination with biomarkers for identifying and evaluating new environmental contaminants in the aquatic environment. It illustrates how bile analysis can be used together with biomarkers to assess the causes of estrogenic effects, to identify chemicals in the aquatic environment that are taken up by fish, and to monitor environmental exposure. 3. 18. Ecological succession of benthic macrofauna following disturbance : Effects of contaminants and in situ sediment remediation

    Författare :Caroline Raymond; Jonas S. Gunnarsson; Agnes M. L. Karlson; Francisco J. A. Nascimento; Joanna Norkko; Gert Van Hoey; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Activated carbon; Benthos; Bioturbation; Contaminants; Environmental indices; Environmental monitoring; Environmental quality; Seafloor integrity; Sediment remediation; marin ekologi; Marine Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : More than 70% of the Earth is covered by water, and most of the sea floor consists of soft sediments, such as mud, clay and sand. Thus, soft sediments form one of the most important habitats on Earth, with a high diversity of organisms. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Exploring the fate of emerging contaminants during hydrothermal regeneration of carbonaceous adsorbents

    Författare :Pierre Oesterle; Stina Jansson; Jerker Fick; Ulrika Rova; Capucine Dupont; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Activated biochars; HTC; regeneration; analytical chemistry; adsorption; degradation; nontarget analysis; wastewater; circular economy; emerging contaminants; surface chemistry; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi; environmental science; miljövetenskap; Pharmaceutics; galenisk farmaci; analytisk materialfysik; analytical material physics; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; analytisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Wastewater from households and industries commonly contain emerging contaminants that are not easily removed by most wastewater treatment plants. These contaminants can be removed through adsorption onto adsorbents, such as activated carbon or biochars. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Turbulent ship wakes and their spatiotemporal extent

    Författare :Amanda Nylund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; shipping; ship wake; turbulence; environmental impact;

    Sammanfattning : Shipping activities occur in almost every part of the global oceans and in intensely trafficked shipping lanes there can be up to one ship passage every ten minutes. All these ships impact the marine environment in different ways through pollution or physical disturbance. LÄS MER
