  1. 1. The Otter (Lutra lutra) in Sweden : Contaminants and Health

    Författare :Anna Roos; Jan Örberg; Björn Brunström; Katrin Lundstedt-Enkel; Susan Shaw; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Otter Lutra lutra ; PCB; DDT; PFAAs; reproduction; bone; time trends; Biologi med inriktning mot ekotoxikologi; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : In the 1950s the otter started to decline in numbers and distribution in Sweden and other parts of Europe. In 1972 a game law came into force, listing otter as a species that if found dead should be reported and sent to the authorities. The numbers of dead otters reported from different areas indicate population status and distribution. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Ecological succession of benthic macrofauna following disturbance : Effects of contaminants and in situ sediment remediation

    Författare :Caroline Raymond; Jonas S. Gunnarsson; Agnes M. L. Karlson; Francisco J. A. Nascimento; Joanna Norkko; Gert Van Hoey; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Activated carbon; Benthos; Bioturbation; Contaminants; Environmental indices; Environmental monitoring; Environmental quality; Seafloor integrity; Sediment remediation; marin ekologi; Marine Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : More than 70% of the Earth is covered by water, and most of the sea floor consists of soft sediments, such as mud, clay and sand. Thus, soft sediments form one of the most important habitats on Earth, with a high diversity of organisms. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mixture Effects of Environmental Contaminants

    Författare :Erik Lampa; Monica Lind; Jonas Björk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mixtures; Environmental Contaminants; Atherosclerosis; Metabolic Syndrome; Boosting; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Chemical exposure in humans rarely consists of a single chemical. The everyday exposure is characterized by thousands of chemicals mainly present at low levels. Despite that fact, risk assessment of chemicals is carried out on a chemical-by-chemical basis although there is a consensus that this view is too simplistic. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On Gas Contaminants, and Bipolar Plates in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

    Författare :Yasna Acevedo Gomez; Carina Lagergren; Göran Lindbergh; Rakel Wreland Lindström; Qinfeng Li; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PEM fuel cell; contaminants; ammonia; nitrogen dioxide; degradation; recovery; bipolar plates; electroplating; Ni-Mo; Ni-Mo-P; internal contact resistance; PEM bränslecell; föroreningar; ammoniak; kvävedioxid; degradering; återhämtning; bipolära plattor; elektroplätering; Ni-Mo; Ni-Mo-P; interna kontaktmotståndet; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell is an electrochemical device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy through two electrocatalytic reactions. The most common catalyst used is platinum on carbon (Pt/C), which has shown the best performance in the fuel cell until now. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Targeted and untargeted analysis of organic contaminants from on-site sewage treatment facilities : Removal, fate and environmental impact

    Författare :Kristin Blum; Peter Haglund; Patrik Andersson; Pim Leonards; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; decentralized sewage treatment; wastewater; surface water; environmental fate; bioavailability; removal efficiency; mass fluxes; biochar; environment; GC×GC-MS; LC-IM-MS; mass spectrometry; contaminants; pollutants; prioritization; non-target analysis; screening; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : On-site sewage treatment facilities (OSSFs) are widely used all over the world to treat wastewater when large-scale sewage treatment plants (STPs) are not economically feasible. Although there is great awareness that the release of untreated wastewater into the environment can lead to water-related diseases and eutrophication, little is known about organic contaminants and their removal by OSSFs, environmental load and fate.
