  1. 1. Ecological niche dynamic, lessons from plankton

    Författare :Baptiste Serandour; Monika Winder; Thorsten Blenckner; Eric Goberville; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plankton; Metabarcoding; Spatial distribution modeling; Ecological niche; Climate Change; marinbiologi; Marine Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Abiotic conditions shape biological communities around the globe. Through spatial and temporal heterogeneity, environments impact plankton physiology, phenology and distribution. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Miljörörelsens mångfald

    Författare :Magnus Boström; Rolf Lidskog; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Environmental organisation; Environmental movement; Social movement; Ecological modernization; Environmental politics; Environmental knowledge; Framing processes; Resource mobilization; Political opportunity structure; Collective identity; Niche.; Sociology; sociologi; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : In the thesis, the conditions, possibilities, and limitations for Swedish environmental organisations to influence other actors — state agencies, political organisations, enterprises and the Swedish public — are analysed. The focus is on their practice in the nineties, implying a context in which different actors, to a greater extent, have accepted the significance of environmental issues, demand knowledge of and solutions to environmental problems, and with new conflicts continously arising. 3. 3. Causes and consequences of niche differentiation between color morphs of pygmy grasshoppers

    Författare :Einat Karpestam; Anders Forsman; Birgitta Tullberg; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; color polymorphism; visual predators; Tetrix subulata; differential habitat use; niche; thermoregulation; feeding preferences; stable isotopes; Evolutionary Biology; Evolutionsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I used the color polymorphic pygmy grasshopper, Tetrix subulata, as a model system in order to investigate the degree of niche differentiation between alternative color morphs that are present within a single population. First, I hypothesized that individuals belonging to different color morphs differ in their innate food preference due to somewhat dissimilar physiology, and in their actual food consumption due in part to differential habitat use. 4. 4. The evolutionary ecology of niche separation : Studies on the sympatric butterflies Leptidea sinapis and Leptidea reali

    Författare :Magne Friberg; Wiklund Christer; John N. Thompson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lepidoptera; ecological character displacement; reproductive isolation; species discrimination; habitat; host plant; life history; sexual selection; female choice; Biology; Biologi; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Studies of ecology and evolution have become largely integrated, and increasing attention is paid to the role of ecology for speciation and post speciation divergence. In this thesis I have applied an in-depth approach studying the ecology of a butterfly species pair; the morphologically virtually identical sister-species, the Wood white (Leptidea sinapis) and Reál’s wood white (Leptidea reali). 5. 5. Phenotypic and genetic adaptations to a new host plant : Ecological divergence of a specialist insect

    Författare :Kalle Nilsson; anpassning och samevolution Artbildning; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ecological speciation; persistence of ecological adaptations; host plant shift; genomic landscape; genomic inversion; parallelism; evolvability; reproductive barriers; Tephritis;

    Sammanfattning : Divergent ecological adaptation resulting from selection is common, but how often it results in differentiation that can last in the face of gene flow is debated. Reproductive barriers persistent to stochastic environmental change are key for species to form. LÄS MER
