  1. 16. Modernisation and farmer-led irrigation development in Africa : A study of state-farmer interactions in Tanzania

    Författare :Chris de Bont; Lowe Börjeson; Gert Jan Veldwisch; Mats Widgren; Anna Mdee; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; irrigation development; modernity; modernisation; farmer-led irrigation development; expert knowledge; Tanzania; sub-Saharan Africa; Geography with Emphasis on Human Geography; geografi med kulturgeografisk inriktning;

    Sammanfattning : After years of relatively low investment, irrigation development in Africa has been put back on the policy agenda as a way of increasing agricultural productivity. In spite of existing evidence of farmers’ irrigation initiatives across the African continent, current policy prescriptions still revolve around (large-scale) state intervention. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Model based approach to resistive wall magnetohydrodynamic instability control : Experimental modeling and optimal control for the reversed-field pinch

    Författare :Agung Chris Setiadi; Per Brunsell; Lorenzo Frassinetti; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; magnetohydrodynamic; model based control; reversed-field pinch; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The primary objective of fusion research is to realize a thermonuclear fusion power plant. The main method to confine the hot plasma is by using a magnetic field. The reversed-field pinch is a type of magnetic confinement device which suffers from variety of magnetohy- drodynamic (MHD) instabilities. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Model predictive control of resistive wall modes in the reversed-field pinch

    Författare :Agung Chris Setiadi; Per Brunsell; Lorenzo Frassinetti; Cristian Rojas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The reversed-field pinch (RFP) is a magnetic confinement fusion (MCF) device. It exhibits a variety of unstable modes that can be explained by magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) theory. A particular unstable mode that is treated in this work is the resistive wall mode (RWM), which occurs when the shell of the device has finite conductivity. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The production and consumption of information and communication technology (ICT) products and services continue to grow worldwide. This trend is accompanied by a corresponding increase in electricity use by ICT, as well as direct environmental impacts of the technology. Yet a more complicated picture of ICT’s effects is emerging. LÄS MER
