1. Zwitterionic Separation Materials for Liquid Chromatography and Capillary Electrophoresis : Synthesis, Characterization and Application for Inorganic Ion and Biomolecule Separations
Sammanfattning : Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) are modern analytical techniques that play very important roles in many areas of modern science such as life science, biotechnology, biomedicine, environmental studies, and development of pharmaceutics. Even though these two techniques have existed and been subjected to studies for several decades, the developments of new separation materials for them are still very important till now in order to meet the different new demands for improvement from other disciplines in science. 2. Immobilizing catalysts on textiles : case of zerovalent iron and glucose oxidase enzyme
Sammanfattning : Catalytic systems are one of the most effective technologies of modern chemical processes. The system uses a molecule called ‘catalyst’ that is capable of catalyzing a reaction without being produced or consumed during the process. LÄS MER
3. Electrifying the Molecules of Life : Peptide and Protein Analysis by Capillary Electrophoresis Coupled to Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the current status and novel aspects of the analysis of the molecules of life, i.e. peptides and proteins, using capillary electrophoresis (CE) coupled to mass spectrometry (MS) via (sheathless) electrospray ionization (ESI). Early reports of sheathless CE-ESI-MS were plagued by limited lifetimes of the electrospray emitter. LÄS MER
4. Evaluation of Non-Metallic Inclusions after Deformation and Their Effect on the Machinability of Steel
Sammanfattning : The presence of non-metallic inclusions (NMIs) have critical effects on both the mechanical properties and machinability of steels. In the present thesis, one focus is to study the characteristics of deformed sulfides (MnS) for a stainless steel (3R65) and a tool steel (42CrMo4). LÄS MER
5. Cellobiohydrolase I as a chiral sector
Sammanfattning : The protein cellobiohydrolase I (CBH I) immobilized on silica particles has been used as a chiral selector in liquid chromatography (LC) and the free enzyme has served as a chiral complexing agent in the background electrolyte in capillary electrophoresis (CE) using the partial tilling technique. The CE systems were much more efficient and more solutes could be enantioseparated than in the LC systems.
