1. Structure, Morphology, and Catalytic Properties of CuOx/CeO2 Model Catalysts
Sammanfattning : Cerium dioxide, or ceria, is a chemically stable oxygen ion conducting material with a capacity to store and release oxygen, and is therefore extensively used in combustion catalysts. The Cu-Ce-O system has been identified as one of the most active catalysts for the combustion of carbon monoxide. LÄS MER
2. Optimizing Enzyme Immobilization in Mesoporous Silica - A Spectroscopic Study of the Dynamics and Spatial Distribution of the Confined Enzymes
Sammanfattning : Enzymes as biological catalysts are immobilized in porous materials to improve the enzyme activity and simplify their purification from the reaction media in biocatalytic applications. Mesoporous silica (MPS) particles are used as a promising support material for the immobilization of enzymes. LÄS MER
3. Glypican-1: Structural and functional analysis of the N-glycosylated human protein
Sammanfattning : Glypicans are multifunctional cell surface heparan sulphate proteoglycans co-regulating numerous signalling pathways, and are thereby involved in the control of cellular division, differentiation, and morphogenesis. The heparan sulphate (HS) chains are responsible for many of those biological functions; nevertheless recent studies suggest functional roles for the glypican core proteins in mediating the signalling of various growth factors. 4. Structural, Electronic and Reactive Properties of Pentapyridyl - Base Metal Complexes : Relevance for Water Oxidation Catalysis
Sammanfattning : The rationalization of chemical-physical proprieties of transition metal complexes is fundamental in order to understand and tune their reactivity. In this thesis, a systematic investigation of the geometrical and electronic properties of [M(Py5OH)Cl]+ complexes (M= Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) has been performed, and their ability to act as molecular water oxidation catalysts has been probed. 5. Biosensing platforms using graphene based bioreactive nanostructures with various dimensions
Sammanfattning : Nanomaterials have brought new aspects and improvements to the biosensing field due to their unique physical and chemical properties that are not shown in the bulk state. This thesis focuses on concepting, developing and testing of biosensors where nanomaterials including graphene gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) constitute the biosensors.
