31. Interfacing Complementary Separation Techniques with Mass Spectrometry Utilizing Electrophoresis, Nanoparticles, and Functionalized Magnetic Beads
Sammanfattning : Capillary electrophoresis (CE) has during the last two decades become more robust and been able to separate neutral analytes without compromising the downstream detection. An interesting aspect in CE compared to more commonly used high-performance liquid chromatography is the orthogonal separation mechanism provided by CE. LÄS MER
32. Electrochemical Aspects of Miniaturized Analytical Platforms
Sammanfattning : This thesis ties some electrochemical aspects of development and fabrication of an analytical system on a microchip together. These aspects develop through the fundamentals of amperometric detection in microsystems and microfabrication via the interaction of electrochemical detection and electrophoretic separation finally to the interfacing of a microsystem to the macro world. 33. Formation and role of nitric oxide in host defense reactions in the urinary bladder
Sammanfattning : Nitric oxide (NO) is an important biological mediator and cell signaling molecule. It is also involved in several host defense reactions. NO is formed in vivo from L-arginine by the enzyme NO synthase (NOS). However, it can also be formed non-enzymatically from acidified nitrite. LÄS MER
34. Elimination of caffeine metabolites in man
Sammanfattning : Plasma, saliva and urinary caffeine (CA), paraxanthine (PX), theobromine (TB), theophylline (TP) and their metabolites were, after separation into fractions by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), quantitated by capillary electrophoresis (CE). In healthy adults, 96% of the total amount of excreted compounds derived from CA were dimethylxanthines (DMXs) and metabolites, the remainder 4% being nonmetabolized CA and its non-demethylated urate. 35. New directions in non-porous membrane extraction
Sammanfattning : Complex biological and environmental samples require a high degree of selectivity in order to determine components therein. Sensitivity measures, such as analyte pre-concentration are often required for assessing composition quantitatively. LÄS MER
