  1. 11. Electrifying the Molecules of Life : Peptide and Protein Analysis by Capillary Electrophoresis Coupled to Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry

    Författare :Magnus Wetterhall; Jonas Bergquist; Karin E. Markides; Dominic M. Desiderio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Capillary electrophoresis CE ; Electrospray ionization ESI ; Mass spectrometry MS ; Peptides; Proteins; Cerebrospinal fluid CSF ; Graphite coating; Monomer coating; Polymer coating; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the current status and novel aspects of the analysis of the molecules of life, i.e. peptides and proteins, using capillary electrophoresis (CE) coupled to mass spectrometry (MS) via (sheathless) electrospray ionization (ESI). Early reports of sheathless CE-ESI-MS were plagued by limited lifetimes of the electrospray emitter. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Surface Modified Capillaries in Capillary Electrophoresis Coupled to Mass Spectrometry : Method Development and Exploration of the Potential of Capillary Electrophoresis as a Proteomic Tool

    Författare :Aida Zuberovic; Jonas Bergquist; Ziad El Rassi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Topology optimization; Design optimization; Material distribution; Wave propagation problems; Inverse problems; Acoustic devices; Medical microwave tomography; High performance computing; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The increased knowledge about the complexity of the physiological processes increases the demand on the analytical techniques employed to explore them. A comprehensive analysis of the entire sample content is today the most common approach to investigate the molecular interplay behind a physiological deviation. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Capillary electrophoresis with mass spectrometric (CE–MS) detection offers a separation method without equal in terms of flexibility, utility, and cost efficiency. Here we demonstrate precisely this through the application of several laboratory-built CE–MS instruments for the separation of brain metabolites in non-primates, enantioselective separations of synthetic anesthetic metabolites in fractionated pony urine, application in structural proteomics workflows, and identification of exogenous alkaloid biotransformationproducts in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
