  1. 6. Arctic Atmospheric Rivers : Eulerian and Lagrangian features, and trends over the last 40 years

    Författare :Cheng You; Michael Tjernström; Abhay Devasthale; Heikki Järvinen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic; Atmospheric river; Stratocumulus; Blocking; Turbulence; Longwave irradiance; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Arctic Atmospheric rivers, termed ‘warm-and-moist intrusion’ (WaMAI) in this thesis, transporting heat and moisture into the Arctic from lower latitudes, is a key contributor to the amplified warming in the Arctic under global change (Arctic Amplification). However, the warming effect of WaMAIs and its transformation along the trajectories into high Arctic still remain unclear, as well as their relation with the large-scale atmospheric circulation. 2. 7. On the atmospheric transport pathways of heat into the Arctic in winter and spring

    Författare :Sonja Murto; Rodrigo Caballero; Gunilla Svensson; Dörthe Handorf; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic climate; Blocking; Warm-air intrusions; Surface energy budget; Melt onset; MOSAiC; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi;

    Sammanfattning : The atmospheric meridional energy transport is an important component in the global climate system, as it transports moisture and heat from the midlatitudes into the Arctic, balancing the regional energy loss to space. Narrow and intense injections of warm and moist air, so-called warm-air intrusions, have a large local imprint on the surface through various processes acting on different scales, such as cloud formation, turbulent fluxes and atmospheric large-scale circulation. 3. 8. Exploitation of interactions with the neonatal Fc receptor to manipulate biological half-lives for therapeutic applications

    Författare :Shengze Yu; Torbjörn Gräslund; Mats Ohlin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Glioblastoma Multiforme GBM ; Prolacin Prl ; Prolacin receptor PrlR ; Prolactin antagonist PrlRA ; Albumin binding domain ABD ; serum albumin SA ; half-life extension; FcRn; Affibody; human growth hormone hGH ; immunoglobulin G IgG ; blocking; autoimmune disease; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Protein engineering provides powerful tools to create useful proteins with desired properties. In this thesis, rational design principles have been used for development of fusion proteins that can interact with the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) for potential medical applications. FcRn is widely expressed in the human body. 4. 9. Rational and Combinatorial Engineering of Affinity Proteins Towards Therapeutical Applications

    Författare :Johan Seijsing; Torbjörn Gräslund; Uhlén Mathias; Inger Sandlie; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neonatal Fc receptor; FcRn; affibody molecule; immunoglobulin G IgG ; serum albumin SA ; albumin binding domain ABD ; half-life extension; blocking; autoimmune disease; pH-dependence; GAD67; GAD-1; gene therapy; Parkinson’s disease; zinc finger based artificial transcription factor; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein engineering has had an immense impact on the development of biological drugs, including replacement therapies with engineered versions of insulin or factor VIII to treat diabetes or bleeding disorders, and monoclonal antibodies to treat cancer and various other malignancies. Now, with the next generation of treatment modalities coming up, including monoclonal reagents based on alternative scaffolds, gene and cell therapies, the importance of protein engineering to tailor-make these treatments is likely to increase further. 5. 10. Rösträtt med förhinder : Rösträttsstrecken i svensk politik 1900-1920

    Författare :Ebba Berling Åselius; Anders Berge; Lars I. Andersson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; voting restrictions; disfranchisement; universal suffrage; Swedish political history 1900-1920; democratization; citizenship; women’s suffrage; gender; political mobilization.; History; Historia;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this dissertation is to describe and analyse the voting restrictions of the Swedish franchise reform of 1909. These restrictions required that the voter should be a male of good repute, who had paid his national and local taxes for three years before the election year, had done his military service, had not been declared incapacitated or bankrupt nor owed society any poor relief.
