1. Deep generated methane in the global methane budget
Sammanfattning : Methane is a significant part of the global carbon cycle. The distribution of methane above and below the Earth’s surface suggests that atmospheric methane might be related to methane originating from the deep mantle. LÄS MER
2. Climatology and firn processes in the lower accumulation area of the Greenland ice sheet
Sammanfattning : The Greenland ice sheet is the largest Northern Hemisphere store of fresh water, and it is responding rapidly to the warming climate. In situ observations document the changing ice sheet properties in the lower accumulation area, Southwest Greenland. LÄS MER
3. On the atmospheric transport pathways of heat into the Arctic in winter and spring
Sammanfattning : The atmospheric meridional energy transport is an important component in the global climate system, as it transports moisture and heat from the midlatitudes into the Arctic, balancing the regional energy loss to space. Narrow and intense injections of warm and moist air, so-called warm-air intrusions, have a large local imprint on the surface through various processes acting on different scales, such as cloud formation, turbulent fluxes and atmospheric large-scale circulation. 4. Salmonid behaviour under winter conditions
Sammanfattning : Winter conditions are believed to play an important role in the population dynamics of northern temperate stream fish, challenging the ability of fish to physiologically and behaviourally adapt. Climate change is predicted to increase both mean temperature and temperature fluctuations, especially during winter, leading to dynamic environmental conditions in terms of river ice production and flow. 5. A numerical investigation of energy conversions in geophysical boundary layers
Sammanfattning : The detailed energy conversions in turbulent geophysical boundary layers are examined and quantified. The governing transport equations are solved by utilizing turbulence modelling. Different turbulence closures have been adopted for the boundary layers examined. LÄS MER
