1. Arctic Atmospheric Rivers : Eulerian and Lagrangian features, and trends over the last 40 years
Sammanfattning : Arctic Atmospheric rivers, termed ‘warm-and-moist intrusion’ (WaMAI) in this thesis, transporting heat and moisture into the Arctic from lower latitudes, is a key contributor to the amplified warming in the Arctic under global change (Arctic Amplification). However, the warming effect of WaMAIs and its transformation along the trajectories into high Arctic still remain unclear, as well as their relation with the large-scale atmospheric circulation. 2. Present and future precipitation variations in the source region of the Yangtze River, China
Sammanfattning : The source region of the Yangtze River (SRYR), the origin of the longest river in China, is an area with high-mountains and river ecotones that face considerable challenges under climate change. Precipitation is fundamental for sustainable ecosystems in this area and for the downstream water supplies. LÄS MER
3. Characterizing and reconstructing 500 years of climate in the Baltic sea Basin
Sammanfattning : Climate has always attracted considerable interest, and climate observations have been made in various ways for most of human history. Regional climate and how it varies is of particular interest, as it sets the scene for our everyday life. LÄS MER
4. Carbon Emissions from Western Siberian Inland Waters
Sammanfattning : Inland waters (i.e. rivers, streams, lakes, ponds) emit carbon (C) into the atmosphere. The magnitude of global inland water C emission has been estimated to equal the global ocean C sink, thus making inland waters an important component of the global C cycle. LÄS MER
5. Distribution, Sources and Environmental Pathways of Radioactive 129I in Fresh and Saline Water in the Baltic Region
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with distribution, sources and pathways of radioactive 129I (T1/2=15.6 My) in 54 rivers covering the Baltic region, precipitation (rain and snow) from southern, central and northern Sweden, and saline water from three depth profiles in the Baltic Sea and a surface water transect from the Baltic to the Kattegat.
