21. Adaptability of skeletal muscle to hormone treatment in relation to gender and aging
Sammanfattning : The aims of this study were to investigate the expression of myosin isoforms, muscle contractility at the cell level, and changes in these parameters in response to altered hormonal status in aging male and female rodents. In addition, by using mice lacking thyroid hormone receptors (TR[alpha]1 or TR[beta] or TR[alpha]1/[beta]) we tried to improve our understanding of the mechanisms by which thyroid hormone regulates the expression of specific MyHC isoforms via these different nuclear receptors. 22. Reversible architecture : Reuse of timber building parts in circular design
Sammanfattning : The construction industry has a great impact on the environment but there is a great potential for improvements. In the era of climate change, sustainable construction methods and ecological solutions are required to improve energyefficiency, and to decrease the environmental impact of housing development. 23. An Analysis of the Proactive Approach as a Potential Tool for Adaptability in Production Systems
Sammanfattning : Competitive systems for manufacturing, especially assembly systems, have to cope with frequent changes of external as well as internal demands. A proactive behaviour in an assembly system should make it capable of rapid changes and have an ability to handle frequent changes and disturbances. LÄS MER
24. Preparing for life : effects of environmental choice and change during rearing on adaptability in laying hens
Sammanfattning : The importance of the early environment for later animal behaviour, health and welfare is well known. Hens (Gallus gallus domesticus) kept for egg production are exposed to various challenges and opportunities during their life time, such as relocation from a rearing to a laying facility or access to free range. 25. Advancing Clinical Decision Support Using Machine Learning & the Internet of Medical Things : Enhancing COVID-19 & Early Sepsis Detection
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a critical examination of the positive impact of Machine Learning (ML) and the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) for advancing the Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) in the context of COVID-19 and early sepsis detection. It emphasizes the transition towards patient-centric healthcare systems, which necessitate personalized and participatory care—a transition that could be facilitated by these emerging fields.
