1. Skolans levda rum och lärandets villkor : Meningsskapande i montessoriskolans fysiska miljö
Sammanfattning : This study examines the school’s physical environment as a place of learning, and takes its starting point in the phenomenology movement, inspired both by Merleau-Ponty’s thesis of man’s physical relation to the world and by the existential analysis represented by Heidegger which implies a mutual relationship between man and the world.Such a view rejects a standpoint which describes man as being divided between a material body and a thinking soul. 2. Spatial and temporal aspects of intense attosecond pulses for pump-probe experiments
Sammanfattning : Nuclear and electronic dynamics in atoms and molecules are the foundation of many physical processes and chemical reactions. Often, these dynamics take place on timescales so much shorter than those commonly encountered that they are called ultrafast. LÄS MER
3. Geometrical Structure, Phase Diagrams, and Core-Level Binding Energiesof Metal Surfaces: Calculations, Simulations, and Experiments
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns clean and adsorbate covered metal surfaces and surface alloys. These systems have been studied using theoretical and experimental methods. In the first part of the thesis, the different techniques that have been utilized in this work are presented, and the included publications are summarized. LÄS MER
4. Optical spectroscopy and fluorescence imaging for cancer diagnostics
Sammanfattning : This work presents optical methods for diagnosing cancer. A complementary method for diagnosing eye cancer was investigated using a technique developed within this work named transscleral optical spectroscopy (TOS). LÄS MER
5. Optical spectroscopy of turbid media: time-domain measurements and accelerated Monte Carlo modelling
Sammanfattning : Optical spectroscopy is a versatile and powerful tool to probe translucent materials. In this work, the focus is on characterization of strongly scattering (turbid) materials by means of time-of-flight spectroscopy (TOFS). LÄS MER
