  1. 11. Development of improved nuclear magnetic resonance techniques and structure determination of a zinc finger peptide

    Författare :Anna Hammarström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Since the functions of biological molecules are closely related to their structures, obtaining the three-dimensional structures is of great importance to the understanding of biology. Currently, the only two methods that can be used for protein structure determination at atomic resolution are X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy. LÄS MER

  2. 12. WILMS’ TUMOUR GENE 1 PROTEIN (WT1) – AN EFFECTOR IN LEUKEMOGENESIS?

    Författare :Karina Vidovic; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; WT1 delZ ; leukemia; BCR ABL1; hematopoiesis; NDRG2; IRF8; WT1;

    Sammanfattning : Wilms’ tumour gene 1 (WT1) encodes a zinc-finger transcription factor functioning as a key regulator in organ development. WT1 was first identified as a tumour suppressor gene due to its inactivation in Wilms’ tumour cases, a childhood kidney cancer. LÄS MER

  3. 13. The p53-induced Wig-1 protein : studies of interaction partners and expression in tumor cells

    Författare :Magdalena Prahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The tumor suppressor p53 is a critical regulator of life and death in cells. The p53 protein is present at very low levels in cells under normal conditions but accumulates in response to different stress stimuli, such as DNA damage, hypoxia, and oncogene activation. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Rational and Combinatorial Engineering of Affinity Proteins Towards Therapeutical Applications

    Författare :Johan Seijsing; Torbjörn Gräslund; Uhlén Mathias; Inger Sandlie; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neonatal Fc receptor; FcRn; affibody molecule; immunoglobulin G IgG ; serum albumin SA ; albumin binding domain ABD ; half-life extension; blocking; autoimmune disease; pH-dependence; GAD67; GAD-1; gene therapy; Parkinson’s disease; zinc finger based artificial transcription factor; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein engineering has had an immense impact on the development of biological drugs, including replacement therapies with engineered versions of insulin or factor VIII to treat diabetes or bleeding disorders, and monoclonal antibodies to treat cancer and various other malignancies. Now, with the next generation of treatment modalities coming up, including monoclonal reagents based on alternative scaffolds, gene and cell therapies, the importance of protein engineering to tailor-make these treatments is likely to increase further. 5. 15. The role of the RNA-binding protein Wig-1 in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression

    Författare :Cinzia Bersani; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The p53 transcription factor is activated by cellular stress. This triggers transcriptional activation of a number of p53 target genes, leading to responses such as cell cycle arrest and/or induction of apoptosis. Wig-1 is a p53 target gene and its RNA and protein levels increase after p53 protein activation. LÄS MER
