1. Vessel wall integrity : influence of genetics and flow
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the major cause of death worldwide. Underlying causes, such as atherosclerosis and hypertension, are associated with remodeling of the vessel wall ultimately leading to loss of structural integrity. There are a number of factors that can influence vascular remodeling and hence structural integrity. LÄS MER
2. Comorbidity and vascular risk factors associated with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus : the INPH-CRasH Study
Sammanfattning : Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) is a dementia treatable by insertion of a cerebrospinal fluid shunt. It has been suggested that INPH has similar pathophysiological mechanisms as cerebrovascular disease, but the vascular risk factor (VRF) profile of INPH patients has not been assessed using a modern epidemiological approach. 3. Differential expression pattern of CEACAM1 isoforms in polarized epithelial cells : it's regulation and some functional consequences
Sammanfattning : The cell adhesion molecule CEACAM1 is expressed in epithelia, small vessel endothelia and leukocytes as two major, co-expressed isoforms, CEACAM1-L and CEACAM1-S, which differ in their cytoplasmic domains. CEACAM1 has been found both in cell-cell contact areas and on apical surfaces of polarized epithelial cells. LÄS MER
4. Hello, is there anybody out there – just nod if you can hear me
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to contribute to the understanding of social and technical aspectsof the work of Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) operators. VTS operators monitor maritimetraffic in order to promote safety in narrow waters and around major ports. LÄS MER
5. The human placenta : an angiographic study
Sammanfattning : The arterial vessels from the umbilical cord spreading over the chorion and its cotyledonary branches constitute the main body of the placental vascular tree. In the present study it was visualized by angiography and related to placental developmental factors. LÄS MER
