  1. 16. Control and Communication with Signal-to-Noise Ratio Constraints

    Författare :Erik Johannesson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Real-time coding; SNR; Causal coding; AWN channel; AWGN channel; Remote source; Networked control; Control over channel; Convex optimization; Wiener filter;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about two problems in the intersection of communication and control theory. Their common feature is that they involve communication over an additive white noise channel with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) constraint. The first problem concerns the transmission of a real-valued signal from a partially observed Markov source. LÄS MER

  2. 17. On learning in mice and machines : continuous population codes in natural and artificial neural networks

    Författare :Emil Wärnberg; Konstantinos Meletis; Arvind Kumar; Gilad Silberberg; Mark Humphries; KTH; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi; Tillämpad matematik och beräkningsmatematik; Applied and Computational Mathematics;

    Sammanfattning : Neural networks, whether artificial in a computer or natural in the brain, could represent information either using discrete symbols or continuous vector spaces. In this thesis, I explore how neural networks can represent continuous vector spaces, using both simulated neural networks and analysis of real neural population data recorded from mice. LÄS MER

  3. 18. The Double Layer Potential Operator Through Functional Calculus

    Författare :Michail Krimpogiannis; Andreas Rosén; Bengt-Ove Turesson; Kaj Nyström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Layer potential operators associated to elliptic partial differential equations have been an object of investigation for more than a century, due to their contribution in the solution of boundary value problems through integral equations.In this Licentiate thesis we prove the boundedness of the double layer potential operator on the Hilbert space of square integrable functions on the boundary, associated to second order uniformly elliptic equations in divergence form in the upper half-space, with real, possibly non-symmetric, bounded measurable coefficients, that do not depend on the variable transversal to the boundary. 4. 19. Some Möbius Invariant Spaces of Analytic Functions. Spectrum of the Cesàro Operator

    Författare :Anna-Maria Persson; Matematik (naturvetenskapliga fakulteten); []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics; Matematik; subdecomposable; Cesàro operator; atomic decompositions; Hankel operators; duality; integral estimates; Möbius invariant spaces of analytic functions; growth estimates;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three papers in which different topics in spaces of analytic functions are considered. These papers are: I. "Estimates in Möbius Invariant Spaces of Analytic Functions." II. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Comfort climate evaluation with thermal manikin methods and computer simulation models

    Författare :Håkan O. Nilsson; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; equivalent temperature; subject; thermal manikin; mannequin; thermal climate assessment; heat loss; office environment; cabin climate; ventilated seat; computer model; CFD; clothing-independent; comfort zone diagram; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing concern about energy consumption and the simultaneous need for an acceptable thermal environment makes it necessary to estimate in advance what effect different thermal factors will have on the occupants. Temperature measurements alone do not account for all climate effects on the human body and especially not for local effects of convection and radiation. LÄS MER
